Damn My Job

Recommended Posts

Argh.

Wendy's have a contest that you can win a 4 day/3 night trip to Nintendo HQ, and many other prizes, but since I work at Wendy's, I'm not elligable.

Damn them stupid rules.

Fast food is for suckers.

I did my tour of duty at Arby's. Haven't eaten there since.

Are you going to clown college? How is a Wendy's job paying for your education?

I decided at a young age that I was never going to work in food service, and after things I've heard through the years (including my former McDonald's-shift-manager-turned-Air-Force-ATC best friend) I'm glad I stuck with retail as a kid... though I got tired of that too

Now I've found my niche in Academia

Tution was only 2900 bucks and I make 7.50 an hour.

Here's a tip of advice for you(if you are interested).

1)Choose college of your liking.

2)If you are 18...you probably can get a job working at the University.

3)Working at a University = Free or reduced tuition.

4)Go to Nintendo HQ assuming you win, that is because you no longer will work at Wendy's and can pay for college.

I WISH I was working at fast food.

Working at a hospital sucks. I've done 4 straight 13 hour shifts (5 am to 7pm) and I've got one more. Normally I wouldn't have so many, but just about everyone in the dietary dept. is out on vacation/sick and being the new guy, I have to pick up everyones shift. I'll have a nice paycheck, but whats having a lot of money when I only have about 2 hours between the time I get home and the time I need to go to bed to work the next day for 5 straight days (needless also to say that I feel like crap after 13 hours at work on my feet all day).

I have to work from 5 to noon saturday as well, but Im leaving early to go to the Orioles/Yankees game and if there's no one there then the old people won't be getting their dinner and I really don't care, because I let them know about it 3 weeks ago.

I hear ya. As a matter of fact I just got a job as a phlebotomist(drawing blood) a few weeks back. If I want to make any money I have to work for this upcoming weekend 3 straight nights-early mornings from 8 PM to 7:30 AM the next morning. Those were the only shifts open and being new I can't pass that up. Oh well, at least that shift won't be a regular occurence, I hope. BTW, I still wouldn't go back to work at a fast food joint.

I luckily never had to do the fast food thing as I did some warehouse work at a gambling supply place whilst I was in high school.

Closet I ever did was I filled in at a family friends resturant as a dishwasher for like 2 weeks while the regular guy was on vacation. Never doing that shit again.

Oh god, the medical kitchen. I worked in a friggin' nursing home for a summer, whipping up thick stinking putrid purees, pouring out thick stinking Ensure and Boost, and making sure the old people who can still eat solids don't choke. Plus there were diabetic diets to worry about, etc etc etc...it was terrible. Better than fast food, and better than being a waiter, but still lousy.

Waiter/Waitress is the worst job there is. I'd rather be a coal miner.

I know alfdogg's post won't be wiped out and replaced with this one, but maybe it can be done in spirit and in make-believe.

He means it's kind of chipping in a little bit, like when I ask the guy in back of me on line if he has some change to help me square a debt with the cash register. Everything is a lie, except for the part when he gives me the money and the part where I spented it.

"I would've figured you worked in the little morgue area, with your own office inside one of those people cabinets," was my clever response, set against an imagined backdrop of grassy flourish and actual conversation. To clarify my remark, I might have stuck a "by the looks of you" to the front there, I'm not sure.
