Guest Jimbo Report post Posted September 11, 2004 Anyone else suspicious of the over the top "THANK YOU COACH WILLINGHAM FOR THE GREATEST COACHING WEEK IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD YOU ARE THE MOST GREATEST GUY I'VE EVER MET AND WE ARE ALL IN AWE OF YOUR ALMIGHTY COACHING PROWESS ALLELUIA ALLELUIA" sentiments? There's some people who must reeeeeeally want (or are being compensated really well by Willingham) the guy to stay in South Bend....

Bored 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 Score of the Day: New Hampshire 35, Rutgers 24 Good to know after beating Michigan State that deep down Rutgers is still Rutgers. Hey Baylor won today! Okay it was against I-AA Texas State and they only won by seven but look out Big 12 Baylor is on the rise! Florida Atlantic is doing well for themselves a year before they join I-A as they beat North Texas today, a week after beating Hawaii.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 So much for Rutgers being a supposed bowl team. Howard Schnellenberger seems to be doing it again, as I think Florida Atlantic only started having football a few years ago.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 Damn ABC not giving the rest of the country bonus coverage of the Clemson/Georgia Tech game so we could have seen the incredible last few minutes.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 Bad news: Arkansas should have won that game Good news: I think Texas will fuck it all up again this year. They're always overrated
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 Ok, to anyone who saw Texas/Ark, was there a reason to run a QB draw with less than 30 seconds left and no timeouts?

Stephen Joseph 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 Damn ABC not giving the rest of the country bonus coverage of the Clemson/Georgia Tech game so we could have seen the incredible last few minutes. It was insane in our sports bar with those last few minutes...most of the gt club up here in dc had left, but about 10 of us remained...that was one of the best comebacks tech has had... what damn good receivers we have

alfdogg 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 ...did I read the paper right this morning? IU actually beat a RANKED football team? I'm no expert on football, but I can't remember us *ever* being any good at football.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 For the amount of money Oregon spends on it's football program it shouldn't be losing to Indiana at home. In other news...STANFORD~ pummled BYU 37-10. Hey remember BYU beat Notre Dame who beat Michigan. That means Stanford should be in the Top 10! Er, um, maybe not.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 Since I seem to be the most gung-ho ACC guy around here, I'll summarize this week's games. Miami over FSU was obviously the big one. Both teams looked like offensive shit, but two pretty much immobile defensive lines kept the game within reach throughout. This is probably the worst game these guys have played against each other in recent memory, but it ended the same as it always does. With Clemson taking an upset loss to Georgia Tech, Miami's 1-0 ACC mark looks very nice. Georgia Tech "upsetting" Clemson was overall the best game played - one of the ACC's middle powers knocking an upper-middle power down a peg. Georgia Tech isn't a pushover team, and they pulled this off despite being down 10 with three minutes left. For anyone who didn't watch, Clemson's long-snapper launched the ball back to his own 10 when a simple punt with 40 seconds left probably would have sealed the win. After struggling against Wake and losing thanks to sloppy mistakes here, Clemson is living up to the forecast of "most overhyped team." Virginia mouthraped UNC, 56-24, in a score that makes the game look much more competitive than it really was. I was there, hooting and hollering in an orange shirt and chuckling after a 100 yard kick return by Marquis Weeks and a 4-back rushing corps that combined for 300 yards and 7 touchdowns. Two cupcakes so far, but the offensive and defensive lines are really starting to click. UVa probably won't run into any trouble until they can find a team that can shut down their run. Up 20-6 in the fourth quarter, Duke almost knocked off UConn, but the Huskies rallied and pulled it off 22-20. It's nothing new for Duke, but a bit surprising to see supposed Big East contender Connecticut come this close to getting spanked. Maryland basically did the same thing Virginia did last week, ripping Temple into tiny little pieces. New QB Joel Statham had an important game for getting adjusted, going 18-25 for 268 yards. Not too much to say on the other games - Wake got past East Carolina, and Virginia Tech put up 63 on hapless Western Michigan, a team enjoying its second year of being an ACC punching bag. 2 games in, here's how I'd rank Tobacco Road. Once most of the teams stop playing easy wins, this should all shift around quite a bit. 1. Miami 2. Virginia 3. FSU 4. Maryland 5. Georgia Tech 6. Va. Tech 7. Clemson 8. NC State 9. Wake 10. Duke 11. UNC
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 It's Houston... No offense, but I'll look forward to Texas v Oklahoma It still showed how good our offense is. Jason White scrambled, our rushing game was alive. And Jason white threw for 257 yards and 2 TD's in the first half! The only problem they are still having is some problems with the defensive secondary. I'm a little bit worried about what could happen when we face a team that does nothing but throw. Because we can handle the rush. But our offense is so good now and our defense is good enough to where we can get into shoot-outs and then hold them down in the end. Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2004 I don't see anything to suggest Texas/OU won't be another OU victory. Note to the Longhorn QB: with about a minute left and a lead, don't go out of bounds on third down

Note to the Longhorn QB: with about a minute left and a lead, don't go out of bounds on third down Yeah there are a lot of people predicting that Texas will take it this year. OU's offense is better this year than it has been in previous years when OU dominated. Not to mention that Mack Brown will playing dueling QB's again.
