I couldn't believe I saw this at Wal-Mart today. It's not in a box set with the five DVDs in their own box though like what has been out for so long though. This set is the exact same thing, only it's called a "Special Edition", and it comes in a single thick case which holds all five of the DVDs. I almost felt like buying it even though I already have the box set. I traded about $50 worth of games/DVDs for this set, I can't believe it's so f'n cheap now, and at Wal-Mart no less. Most of the matches aren't that great, but that isn't what this set is all about. This set is about the history of wrestling, nostalgia, etc... Meltzer and Cornette are great with the commentary. This DVD set is one great big learning experiance. Sincerely, ...Downhome...

Downhome Posted September 14, 2004 Author Report Posted September 14, 2004 I've never seen the Wrestling Gold DVDs in the bin. I have seen the Classic Superstars of Wrestling DVDs in there though. I also saw the Eddie DVD there today, but it was $18.95 or so, and I decided to just buy it from DDD for $16.17.

I can turn on WWe twice a week to see crappy matches, so I have no desire to slip on rose tinted glasses and watch crappy matches from the past.
teke184 Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 The matches (hours of them) contain an alternate audio track with commentary by Dave Meltzer and Jim Cornette. THAT is worth the price of admission by itself.
Downhome Posted September 14, 2004 Author Report Posted September 14, 2004 Ding ding ding. That's exactly right, as I said before. I love listening to those audio tracks, even on the very bad matches. Also, some of the matches are pretty good.
razazteca Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 So what are the highlights of the dvd set? Is it only USWA and Memphis matches from the early 80s and if so are there any Jerry Lawler vs Curt Henning matches?
