Good music making programs?

I need some help finding good audio mixing programs. Tried FL Studios, it was pretty good. But I want to see if there's anything better before I get serious with FL.

In terms of what's free, FL is probably the best I've seen. I'm sure there are commercial programs which are much better, but those cost a lot.
