So they're back. I hated them last year, and I loathe them even more this year. I know its just a commercial, and I shouldn't expect a wealth of sophistication, but these commercials.. sorry "short films" feel like a waste of my time. Also, adding to my frustration: Acording to the Coca cola web site only "students from ten prestigious film schools" can send in entries. Am I the only hater, or does anyone else share my anger?

The limit of film schools is aggravating, but overall it gives these kids a chance at a public forum, which is a good thing.

As Mark Edward Hoyt, aka "The Movie Geek" on the Comedy Central show Beat The Geeks once said, as he was facing an Ad Executive for the final "Geek-to-Geek Showdown":

"This is for all those times I paid $10 for a movie, and had to sit through 10 minutes of ads."

He then went on to bitch-slap her 9-0 for the win.

I hate all commercials that are shown at movie theaters.

The added commercials make it even easier to show up 10 minutes late and still not miss any of the movie.

Now, if they were to start the commercials 10 minutes before the advertised start time of the movie instead of at the start time...

Yeah, but I've been to theaters where they sometimes actually do that.

I showed up at the theater exactly at the start time and figured I wouldn't miss anything because they would show commercials and trailers, only to discover that those had started 15 minutes earlier and I missed the begining of the movie because it really started at the time listed.
