is there anything that really stands out?

 

I went to a German restaurant today (in-between giving money to some panhandler and whatever else I did today) and for being a country that has brought us hamburgers, their burger wasn't that good. The patty was small.. at least in comparison to the rest of the burger. I didn't mind the wine glass-ish thing of Coke or the potato wedges.

 

I could have gotten something else though.

 

But the people working there were real Germans.

I absolutely loathe sauerkraut. I'm *German*, and I think sauerkraut is made from the devil's nappy pubic hairs.

Sauerkraut is fine by me, though I've mainly used it as a topping for bratwurst, hot dogs and hamburgers, and that's where it should stay. Otherwise it isn't very edible.

Sauerbraten - beef roast marinated in a vinegar based marinade at least 24 hours

Wiener Schnitzel - breaded veal cutlets that are fried

Spaetzle - small formed pasta

Potato Pancakes

 

Great topic for so close to oktoberfest, although Germans wouldn't be so much concerned with the food as they are with their alcohol..

I'm going to Leavenworth for Oktoberfest.

They have a badass Oktoberfest up in Ft. Waste. It's cold as hell every year, and usually rains, and everyone up there is fucking plowed.
