Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 4, 2004 That was just a miscommunication, as Sherman didn't have the information that he shouldn't have gone back in the game. Brett seemed OK, but "a little cloudy" as they had described. Hope he's good to go against another disappointing team, Tennessee. I think it's fair to say that this upcoming game is going to be a very big one early in the season. The winner has a shot at coming back up to .500 at 2-3, and the loser will be staring at 1-4 in the face, both with their MVp-caliber quarterbacks coing back from injury (McNair with a bruised sternum, Favre with a concussion). I think the defense had played pretty well, they just got badly burned on two very ill-advised blitzes which allowed Barber the majority of his yards. They even played pretty damn well in the 2nd half against Indy last week, but turnovers are again the most telling stat in football. We're talking 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles last week against Indianapolis, and 3 interceptions (nearly 4) and a fumble lost in the Giants game this week. How can you expect to put up any points when you keep giving the other team the ball? They need to emphasize ball control this week, against that Titans defense it won't be pretty if they don't. Guest Astro Report post Posted October 4, 2004 ^^^ According to the press, Farve may have hurt himself further with his aggressive post TD celebration
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 4, 2004 I don't think they'll have many problems with the Titans. The defense is above average but they seem to have no clue how to run their offense. Why they decided to throw 58 times against the chargers is a total mystery to me. They wouldn't even come close to doing that with McNair and then they're going to air it out all day with the backup? Guest Astro Report post Posted October 4, 2004 Favre with a concussion Farve also has a sore hamstring and a left shoulder that is popping out of place randomly
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 4, 2004 The hamstring is just a bad bruise and he's been playing with the bum shoulder on his non-throwing arm for the past 2 seasons now. He'll probably get surgery on it over the offseason, but he says it's no big deal but if it was on his throwing arm he wouldn't be playing right now.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 4, 2004 I'm amazed that a day after scoring all of seven points against the Giants, the DEFENSE is somehow the problem.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 4, 2004 Maybe because Tiki Barber is the second back in three weeks to run all over the Packers while adding in that Manning threw all over them the other week.
The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2004 Well, a lot of that has to do with the fact that Favre got clobbered and knocked out of the game. Doug Pederson can't exactly conduct the symphony of destruction, even with Green, Walker, Driver, and Ferguson. If there's any problems with the offense, it's the turnovers - they have got to teach Ahman Green to protect the ball.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2004 Seeing that clip of the trainer slapping John Henderson makes me wince
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 4, 2004 That takes a brave man to slap him that hard. I know it's just to fire him up but I'd be worried about him snapping and breaking me in half too.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2004 I've been reading "Bragging Rights", a book about college football in the SEC in 1999, when Henderson played for Tennessee. The author talks about how Henderson is a nice, quiet guy, so I guess this is a sort of motivational tactic. If I was the trainer though, it'd still scare the shit out of me. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 5, 2004 I'm amazed that a day after scoring all of seven points against the Giants, the DEFENSE is somehow the problem. The Giants have a solid, disciplined defense, and the defense is a problem because of the new scheme with Slowik in place instead of Donatell, who now is kicking the NFC South's ass as Atlanta's D-Coordinator. The offense was going decently in the 2nd half until Favre got hurt. Pederson couldn't move an offense if it was the `98 Vikings. If there's a way to throw an interception, trust me, he'll find it. Like Blak said, the problem on offense has to do with the turnovers. The Colts game could have been tied and possibly even won if it wasn't for a crucial fumble by Javon Walker midway through the 4th quarter. And noone's arguing the Colts are a good team, so it's quite something to say you kept pace with their offense and lost on a stupid mistake on their home opener. The main problem with the coaching I think is how Green Bay seems to play up or down to its competition. You just never know really how good or how bad they are. And that's definitely a coaching problem.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2004 Tell MamaDama to pick a team and stick with it, dammit She's got her reasons! She was originally a 49ers fan b/c of Joe Montana. Well then he went to The Chiefs and she stayed loyal to Jerry and Steve but followed Joe. Well then she also developed a love for Brett Farve.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2004 This is about the worst I've seen the Ravens defense play in a while. Its not really bad defense, they just keep letting the Chiefs do 10+ play drives that eat the clock up. The Ravens usually arent bad for that.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2004 Ray Lewis has provided some decent unintentional comedy so far this game. I mean, how shocking is it that he gets double teamed?
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2004 Time Of Possession: 33:00 to 12:00 in favor of the Chiefs going into the 4th. You aren't going to win a game when you have had the ball that short of time, and its amazing the Ravens are still in the game.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2004 2 very bad penalities by teh Cheifs defense put the Ravens on the goaline for the easy Jamal Lewis TD. The first penalty was probably not a penalty (even I can say that the ball was uncatchable). The 2nd was clearly a penalty, and thanks for it since otherwise the Chiefs would have gotten the ball. I don't know why they tried to pass on first and goal from the 1 anyway. Doesn't make much sense..
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2004 Big defensive stop there by the Ravens and they get the ball back with plenty of time to at least get the tying FG...
