Styles 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2004 Ok, I figure someone around here would know what the problem is, and maybe even how to correct it. The site is www.realgm.com/boards where I would often read the Wizards message board. I very rarely posted, certainly nothing that would get me banned. Whenever I try to access any of the boards, I get this message: You have been banned from this forum. Please contact the webmaster or board administrator for more information. Now, I am currently on a high speed network connection at my college. I'm sure that has something to do with it, because when I am at home on my own connection, I have no problem signing in, accesing the board, etc. like usual, but when I try from school, I get the banned message. So, can anyone clue me in on why this is happening, and for bonus points how I can correct it?
Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2004 Sounds like an IP ban, maybe even of an entire IP range. That would explain you not getting on from college (where the PCs are all on the same network, presumably), but able to get on at home, where your network and IP address are different. Ok, that makes sense. So is there anything I can do about it? I tried emailing the site once and got no response. Am I basically SOL?
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2004 No, you aren't. But If I tell you how to fix it, then I have to tell everybody and that's just a lot of work you know.

Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2004 But what if you freak out and get banned here? You'd have a way to get back on and I just can't be the cause of pbp's being allowed back on.

Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2004 Just because it's not a secret, doesn't mean that everyone knows them. But now you've blown it, I'm quoting that post so we know who to blame next time some pbp comes back and wrecks havoc while our w*st c**st m*d is not on. Guest Danny Dubya v 2.0 Report post Posted October 13, 2004 This board is boring anyway without PBPs and witchhunts. It's gotten so bad here, there's a 10+ page thread about the Bible in liekomgomg*vomitsblood*HARDKOR~™ Discussion. It's a great thread, but when it's the most active one in HD, that's a new low if you block gangwars out of your mind like every other healthy poster. Oh, and I didn't blow a damn thing. All I did was mention two words. Having an actual understanding of their use is up to them, and I like it when people try to be self-dependent instead of annoyingly asking questions like they can't think for themselves or use a search engine for the life of 'em. Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2004 I don't mind if pbp's come back like they did in the good old days. Sure the hunt usually got repetitive, but beyond that it sure spurred a bit of activity.
