Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted October 19, 2004 ...to the Seahawks for a 4th or 5th round pick depending on how much he plays. ALSO Rich Gannon is officially done for the year Jerry Porter could very well be on the move, possibly to the Cleveland Browns.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 19, 2004 Dear Holmgren, if reports are true, PLEASE start him at St. Louis on Nov. 14th. I've fucking had it with Koren Weaver losing us big games cause he can't fucking catch! Personally I hope this is true then I can say: I CALLED IT BITCHES!~ (OK it was FOR Robinson but same thing basically)
Bored 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2004 Even though they obviously can't really afford to give up draft picks but it would have been nice for the 49ers to have traded for him. It's not like they are going anywhere this year. But at least with the Seahawks he has an outside shot at going to another Super Bowl. He will get to play one final game at San Francisco on November 7th, assuming he finally retires after this year.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 19, 2004 A little more insight: Robinson faces four-game suspension Looks like Rice could start on Sunday (Engram out, incidentally he was the Hawks' 'plan B' after they didn't get Rice in 2001). Shit, would the Hawks let him wear #80?
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2004 If they get rid of Porter and Rice, who exactly will the wide receivers be then???

starvenger 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2004 If they get rid of Porter and Rice, who exactly will the wide receivers be then??? Aren't they high on Ronald Curry? That just sounds wrong for some reason. Even though they obviously can't really afford to give up draft picks but it would have been nice for the 49ers to have traded for him. It's not like they are going anywhere this year. But at least with the Seahawks he has an outside shot at going to another Super Bowl. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 19, 2004 I hope he does the Roger Craig thing where he signs with the Niners and immediately retires. Same here. Here's someone who should have stopped playing at LEAST after that whipping the Raiders took in the recent Super Bowl against the Bucs. In this league, you'd be lucky to have another shot at a title for maybe a decade or so. Look at Brett Favre, who was lucky enough to win one by his 4th season, and go again the following year but hasn't been back since, or Marino who started off hot and never made it past the divisional round again. I heard someone comparing Favre still playing to Rice still playing, I laughed in their face. That's one of the most ridiculous comparisons I've ever heard, Favre is still a top 5 quarterback and is actually 2nd on most consecutive TD's thrown (passing Marino this past Sunday) only to John Unitas, which would still take him till the 6th game of next season to tie the record of 47. But still, Rice is really a shell of his former self and I haven't seen him dominate since he, Brown, and Porter were kicking ass in `02. It's really sad for the greatest players to go out like that. LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2004 Browns trade Quincy Morgan to the Cowboys for Antonio Bryant.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 19, 2004 Like I said in the other thread, hope Cowboy fans enjoy watching Morgan drop gimme passes every game.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 19, 2004 Rice is STILL better than Koren 'speaking of dropping gimme passes every game' Robinson, 'washed up' as he is. Now the two of the five greatest receivers of all time have played or play for my team
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 19, 2004 I'm happy with the Browns getting Bryant. He's an upgrade over Morgan for the most part.
The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2004 Rice goes to the Seahawks for a conditional seventh-rounder, based on a physical? How the mighty have fallen. I hope Rice reels off a couple of big games (or at least catches) on his way out.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 19, 2004 Hell Rice'll have his chance right off the bat to show if he's still got it or not: Robinson: headed for suspension/Ricky Williams' house for an all-night bong session Engram: hurt Bannister: good special teamer (Pro Bowler) but no way in hell do you want this guy in the lineup Hackett: rookie So there you go................... Guest bigm350 Report post Posted October 19, 2004 It's too bad the Lions didn't get Rice. I kept hearing the Lions were close to getting him. It sucks, especially since Charles Rogers is to brittle to play in the NFL.
Vigo 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Rice may be old but he can still catch the ball. He's not going to be a deep threat but for the short gains he's one of the most consistent receivers. As a Raiders fan it's sad to see him go but he wasn't doing anything this season so at least he gets to go to a team that actually will use him. Now as for Jerry Porter, there is no way the Raiders should trade him. It's not his fault Kerry Collins can't throw for shit the past couple of games.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Actually the Raiders should've traded Porter. This is his last year and since he's been invisible this year they probably won't resign him. Some team next year may get a steal due to porter not finding a spot in Norv Turner's system.
Vigo 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 What is Norv Turner's system? From what I've seen so far the Raiders just throw the ball to like five different receivers a game and don't really have that one go to guy like most teams do. Their running game is crap. That's what they should work on fixing next season. Wheatley and Zereoue are not premier running backs. I don't know I guess I'm just a mark for Jerry Porter but I feel he could be the next Tim Brown for the Raiders so I'd like to seem them keep him around. LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Ricky Williams wants to play for Turner, so the Fins will probably trade him out there. Doesn't necessarily solve the Raider's running problems. Porter is solid, but Collins can't consistently get him the ball. The Ravens should go after him when the season is over.
Vigo 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Williams would be an upgrade, but that all depends on how Ricky feels. When he wants to play he's pretty good and definitely better than what the Raiders got. Porter isn't the problem, Collins is. The Raiders better draft a quarterback this year cause Gannon ain't coming back and Collins isn't the answer.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Raiders are stupid to get rid of Porter. Are Whitted, Francis, Morant, and Curry exactly scaring the hell out of anybody?
MrRant 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 And NO ONE mentions that the Hawk's unretired Largent's # for Rice? Blasphemy.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Actually I sorta did by saying 'Would the Hawks let Rice wear #80'? Besides, Rice broke Largent's TD record, so it's not like they're letting Scrub WR A (initials same as kick returner) have it.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 As a Raiders fan, honestly trading Rice for some draft picks to me was stupid. The Raiders should have gotten a few players out of it. I hope they don't get rid of Porter, probably their best reciver since they got rid of Rice.
The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Porter is solid, but Collins can't consistently get him the ball. The Ravens should go after him when the season is over. I really thought Porter had more talent than this, but he's starting to look like the second coming of Alvin Harper. He's just not doing the job without the spectres of Tim Brown and Jerry Rice keeping defenses busy. As for Collins' performance and Norv Turner's system...well, color me disappointed. I can't help but think that there's some left over unrest in the locker room from last year (or, more accurately, since the day they lost the Super Bowl to Tampa Bay), because the Raiders seem flatter than ever. And NO ONE mentions that the Hawk's unretired Largent's # for Rice? Blasphemy. Largent approved, but I'm not sure I do, especially considering the circumstances behind the trade. Dude, Jerry Rice has very little trade value. He's been totally washed up for two years. Any team that would give up more than one very low draft pick for him is fucking nuts. Al Davis just wanted to get him onto another team, out of respect to Jerry. He didn't want to stay with Oakland at all. I think the Raiders should be commended, not critisised. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Add me to the list of people calling bullshit on Rice wearing Largent's number. Yes, I recognize that Rice is arguably the greatest WR of all time, and that Largent Ok'ed Rice wearing #80 ... but it's still wrong. Rice should have done the classy gesture of wearing a different number. Best case scenario would have been for Largent to offer the number to Rice, but have Rice refuse. Like when Sakic asked if Bourque wanted to be the Captain when he was traded to the Avalanche.
