Jesse Ventura endorses Kerry

ST. PAUL - Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura has officially endorsed Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

 

The announcement was made during a 30-minute news conference at the State Office Building. The former Minnesota Governor was there, but did not make any comments.

 

Just days ago, Ventura had said that he did not plan to support Kerry or President Bush this election year.

 

Also at the news conference was former Maine Gov. Angus King, who was the only other third-party governor during Ventura's years in office. He said Ventura changed his mind and decided to endorse Kerry.

 

Organizers didn't even know Ventura was going to show up until the news conference started. He told reporters who followed him out to his car afterward that he'll be doing interviews in Los Angeles.

 

It's nice to see that he's changed from "I won't vote" (which I think was part of his non-endorsement) to this.

 

Say what you will about his one term. But now he's with the good guys. (ha, this is what you call taunting)

 

Now the only thing Jesse can do to confuse me is running on his own. But, I don't think he'd pull off anything close to what he did in Minnesota (which was amazing)

 

although..

 

 

that might be Jesse's body double. Or that picture just sucks.

ST. PAUL - Former Gov. Jesse Ventura apparently is now supporting John Kerry for president - but he's not saying why.

 

The former Minnesota governor made a trip back to the Capitol complex in St. Paul Friday, but defiantly refused to utter a word during the 30-minute news conference.

 

Ventura stood next to former Maine Gov. Angus King when King was saying why Kerry should be president. King said Ventura wouldn't be talking, but had authorized King to answer questions on his behalf.

 

King said Ventura apparently changed his mind from a couple of weeks ago when he said he didn't have anyone to vote for after watching the debates.

 

Asked if Ventura's presence meant he's endorsing Kerry, replied: "Yes."

 

"He came here today and he didn't just happen by," King said.

 

Organizers didn't even know for sure if Ventura was going to show up until the news conference started. He was sporting his new braided beard look, with black pants, a Navy hat, a black SEAL T-shirt and white tennis shoes.

 

He just shook his head when reporters asked him questions and motioned toward King.

 

Followed out to his car by reporters afterward, Ventura said he would be doing interviews in Los Angeles.

So, the people in Minnesota, who were in the Independence Party, who would have considered sitting out of this election but may be swayed by Ventura are dumb?

 

Maybe they should recieve a Literacy test too, and then you can find a way to disqualify them.

I guess the dumb people in Minnesota have decided to unite. (But, Ventura's ads in 1998 were brilliant)

 

Ventura and most of members of the party are socially liberal and economic conservatives. Which are signs of stupidity. Of course.

 

Granted, I don't know if Jesse (or his body double) will do much in Minnesota.

 

I'm all for making it harder for really dumb people to vote.

 

Any other laws or amendments that you want to repeal to make sure that only the people smart enough for you vote? I know you're going to axe the Poll Tax amendment (which also covers literacy tests) and I'd imagine portions of the Voting Rights Act will go too.

 

If the tests you put up to make really dumb people unable to vote disqualified you from voting, how would that make you feel? just a hypothetical

I have tended to ignore the ideas of groups of weak-willed idiots.

I'd say the reason he was elected was due to being an alternative. Granted, that alternative probably didn't work out too well. As for him not running. He probably wouldn't have won re-election but he would have finished strong.

So, how will go you about finding a standard for "Dumb". I'm sure that it'd be the same standard and not biased. Despite the history of these tests not being "fair and balanced" and all.

 

And I am not worrying at all. To suggest I would not pass a test on knowing what's happening in politics suggests either extreme dislike for me on your part, extreme stupidity or extreme ignorance.
