UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Look at this. Insane crazy scary puppets. A fantasy world. Amazing music. Seriously, this was like The Wizard of Oz meets The Muppets...why wasn't this the next "big movie"...
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 It hasn't done too badly. I imagine anyone would know it if they passed it on tv or something like that.
dubq Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Because it sucked. Just like the Dark Crystal.
Mole Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I saw Labyrinth when I was younger because a girl told me it was her favorite movie. After I saw it, I no longer macked it with her. That being her favorite movie scared me.
Vyce Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Labyrinth is a great movie - one of Henson's last, I think, before he died. Jennifer Connelly is fun in it, Bowie is great as the Goblin King, and the character designs (I believe done either by Brian Froud or definitely inspired by him) were fantastic. Definitely one of my favorite movies from my childhood.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Worth it just for Bowie's ginormous codpiece.
PLAGIARISM! Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I liked it, it's one of those childhood memories that kinda scared you, but you remember it fondly. Like Ghostbusters 2. I had to leave the cinema the first time I saw that one though.
cbacon Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 One of my favorite childhood movies. Even today, i'll watch it with a friend (who does a killer Bowie impression) now and again.
Lord of The Curry Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I'm not ashamed in the least to admit that I know all the lyrics to "Dance magic dance".
Red Baron Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I watched it for the first time a few weeks ago. Cheesy but good.
justsoyouknow Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 This film was profound on a few levels - a satire of World War II with stereotypes out the asshole. It's genius.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted November 2, 2004 Author Report Posted November 2, 2004 I just like the fact that Bowie sings all while surrounding himself with evil muppets and trying to seduce a 13 year old girl.
justsoyouknow Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Or the fact that Bowie is symbolic of Hitler, Ludo the Russians, that crazy little dog the British, and the little girl the Americans....or maybe I just smoked too much before watching it.
Anakin Flair Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 The first time I saw it I didn't like it, but it has grown on me over the years. Haven't seen it in a while, though.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted November 3, 2004 Author Report Posted November 3, 2004 Who does Hoggle represent then?
Guest wrestlingbs Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 One of my favorite movies, just for the shear insanity of the whole movie. And don't mock dark crystal. "Trial by Stone!"
Lord of The Curry Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Fuck the Dark Crystal haters. Movie is fan-fucking-tastic. The language in particular is very interesting in an extremely fucked-up way. The crab-soldier things rule as do the Mystics.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 I'm not ashamed in the least to admit that I know all the lyrics to "Dance magic dance". I can play it..
