Guest theoldxpac Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Im currently having problems with my homepage, as it is set to about:blank, but loads up as some page called "Home search page" It has links for various crap on the internet. It also wont let me change the homepage back through the internet options menu, and gives me a shit load of pop ups, mainly saying i have spyware or viruses and need to click the link to download something to get rid of them. Occasionally the pop ups are porn. Any ideas as i have already tried Norton, Spyware, Ad-Aware (Although i didnt delete everything that this came up with as there was way to much stuff to select to delete).
the max Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Pinned thread has Spybot and HiJack This!, both of which will help you.
Guest theoldxpac Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 After about 5 runs of HiJack This it finally got rid of it. Thanks.
Guest theoldxpac Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Ok maybe not, everything i deleted keeps coming back.
nl5xsk1 Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 It sounds a lot like the problem that my family's PC is having ... is the webpage that springs up as the home page an IP address, rathar than a normal URL? Mine starts with an IP address that starts with 213.something.something.something. Everything sounds the same, including the pop-up and the inability to change it back (even after running HiJack).
mister foozel Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 virus norton sucks, by the way try avg antivirus (its free), search on google.com because i dont know the link, pc housecall, spybot (another spyware remover) hope that helps
Guest Coffey Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 No, it's spyware still. Get Ad-Aware 6 and then update it. Go to custom scan and select your entire computer. Run that sumbitch and delete anything that comes up. You'll be good to go.
