Guest Anglesault Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Aren't we the cynical one.... Just Catching on now? It'll be a fun match, regardless of it's relevancy That's the thing. Matches that you expect people to pay for should be more than "You, You, You, and You, team up and face You, You, You and You." I mean, yeah, there was an Eddie/Show vs. Angle issue, and a Cena/Carlito issue, but they shouldn't be shoehorned into one match with added people who bring nothing to the table for either feud. Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 14, 2004 It's Survivor Series. It makes sense for those faces to band together and those heels to do likewise.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted November 14, 2004 It's Survivor Series. It makes sense for those faces to band together and those heels to do likewise. Just because it's what they used to do doesn't mean it makes sense anymore. You're supposed to entice the fans to buy with these matches, and honestly, America hasn't demanded a John Cena/Mark Jindrak confrontation.
Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 14, 2004 But the team leader has to pick members. Why wouldn't he pick guys who are currently holding themself in a feud? It's likely that the other will do likewise.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted November 14, 2004 But the team leader has to pick members. Why wouldn't he pick guys who are currently holding themself in a feud? It's likely that the other will do likewise. Mark Jindrak wasn't feuding with anyone in this match. Neither was RVD or Cool before Cena was announced. Why the hell would they agree to join these matches? They just had nothing better to do? Basically, what I'm saying is that the whole idea for Survivor Series matches have outlived their uselessness. Throwing any 8 guys out there might have worked 10 years ago, but in 2004, when you are doing them for no other reason than to be OLD SKEWL BABY!, and you start really stretching to fill out Survivor Series matches, causing matches to be filled with people that had absolutely no issue with each other before the build up, that's just stupid booking. This show would be much better served with an Angle/Show/Eddie three way, some sort of tag title match (considering Rey and RVD were chasing them two weeks ago) and a match to build Carlito as US champion. Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Mark Jindrak had become Kurt Angle's protege before the situation of the survival matches arose. It is obligatory for him to be one of Kurt's teammembers. The team's leader does get strong faces/heels for his team though, and those wrestlers are often in a feud with someone who'll be picked up on the opposing team. Unless, of course, you're the token face like RVD. I agree that there really was no reason to go back to the old format, but last year's matches, Raw especially, pleased and this years' have the potential to do likewise. Still, the card could have so much better and maybe next year the booking will pick up.
Mole 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 I just watched the video on the WWE.com main page about Eddie's 4th man. And when they showed the four other men that they are fighting, I didn't know who any of them are. Not one.

NYU 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Yeah. Edited that accordingly. Either way, Jindrak has been on Raw for a while, as well as in WCW. You should at least be able to identify who he is.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 The problem with Jindrak and Reigns is that neither man has any personality, and nothing to make them seem more than a generic wrestler. Sure, we know they're Angle's henchman, but that's it. They could be anyone else on the roster for all the character devloplment they've been given. Nothing about them whatsoever makes them stand out from Generic Tall Guy #145, and nothing about them really makes you give a shit whether they stick around or not, because we've not been given to reason to. You should at least be able to identify who he is. He's a VIOLENT COLLEGE BASKETBALL PLAYER. There's a TSM joke that had been dormant

I didn't watch WCW when he was there anyway. And what HTQ said, he just looks like a generic wrestler.

Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 14, 2004 I still want my foot through the screen every time Michael Cole stresses how he's been "shot, stabbed, he's been in barroom brawls, been in and out of prison."
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 I still want my foot through the screen every time Michael Cole stresses how he's been "shot, stabbed, he's been in barroom brawls, been in and out of prison." I feel that whenever Cole says, well, anything at all. It's been 7 years, and I don't think he's gotten a lick better at commentating.
Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 14, 2004 We didn't have SmackDown! when Nathan Jones was on, but I'd imagine he wasn't much different then either, in an attempt to get him over. What the fuck are we supposed to think? That if Michael Cole thinks that he's hardko, then he is? By the way, if this was the right place, the right time and I was that type of person, I'd've quipped "looks like everything that comes out of New Jersey sucks."
