CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I hated the spreads this week. Throwing 3 points on every spread doesn't make it more or less likely that there's an obvious pick -- in fact, it makes taking all underdogs a winning strategy. There's a good reason Vegas makes millions year in and year out.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 The other way put in more thought. Honestly, if we got super-sized from now on, if they are more than 5, everyone's taking the underdog in most cases. To get people to put in different responses, you should ask that they PM their picks.

How many times have people differed by a small number of games only because one person targeted one weak game that was already posted on the opponent's side? The problem with that is if I made everyone PM their picks, too many people would piss and moan about it. That's why I made it optional. If your opponent "scouts" your picks, then that's the price you pay for not PM'ing them...

The same rube that got a dozen or so picks right this week. So what about it? How do you want the point spreads to work for the rest of the year? Vote, or DIE!!!! Oh yeah, and with games moving to Thursday, the deadline won't be Wednesday -- it'll still be early Saturday or late Friday, depending on if there are Saturday games. If you don't make Thursday picks by a certain time I just won't count them, but they won't cost you a week's worth of picks. And don't forget, the person with the best performance next week gets the kkk Turkey, already slaughtered for your convenience... (_) /\ ___O>

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 Well, the masses have spoken, kinda. Point spreads will be tweaked by a few points from here on out, much like they have been all year. Goodbye SUPER-SIZED point spreads. I will say, though, that next year the spreads probably will be SUPER-SIZED, so you've been warned. And speaking of next year, some of you guys are pretty much out of playoff contention (although the AFC and NFC East Divisions can still be won by the last-place teams, imo). However, if you want to keep your team next year, still make your picks. Not only can you play spoiler for some poster, but also if you miss 5 games this year, your team will be an available franchise. Basically, what I'm going to do next year is give first dibs to everyone that played this year and didn't use their emergency picks five times. Then I will open up the remaining teams to anyone who wants them. If I had to use emergency picks five times this year for a team, that team will be available to the first person to claim them. For example, if bob_barron didn't post picks five times this year, his Bills team will be on the open market. Bob could still claim them, but he runs the risk of someone else taking them. The only exception I'm making to this rule is the week or two Agent Bond had to use his Emergency Picks because he was unjustly banned at the time and had no way to send me his picks. Anyway, back to this year. Standings are up. Two side notes: 1) Bob has the season sweep over nl5xsk1. 2) Agent Bond has the season sweep over Mr. Rant...
