Angle Deteriorating?

Recommended Posts

As most of you have probably seen explained on the Chris Benoit DVD, severe neck damage without proper surgery/treatment can lead to your body and muscles deteriorating. This was exemplified by Paul Orndoff, and, after watching No Mercy on DVD tonight, I've been alarmed at the way Kurt Angle is looking lately.

You can see he's in great shape and he's ripped, much like even Orndoff was on his last few WCW appearances. Then you see Orndoff's arm which, while defined, is about the size of a 12 year old kid's arm.

Angle looks to be headed in the same route. Is he losing muscle mass and withering away because of his refusal to get the fusion done, or am I just crazy?

He was a complete idiot getting that surgery. He should have worked the WMXIX and then gotten the same surgery Edge, Benoit, Austin, Lita and co. got.

He didn't gain anything by coming back so soon, he hasn't had many memorable matches and has booked himself to look like a imbecile.

If you look at the bodywork of Benoit and Austin; they actually IMPROVED after the traditional surgery and Edge has been about the same. Angle is basically one bad bump away from joining Dynamite Kid in the "cripple ward of wrestling".

Do you also notice how incredibly small he is getting as far as all around mass? He is so ripped and he's in phenomenal shape but he's fucking shrinking. His arms are starting to look incredibly weak and I'm pretty alarmed.

I wouldn't compare Austin in this kind of thing. After the Owen thing, he was never the same person he was, and had to adapt to more of a brawler type wrestler, which was the perfect role for his character obviously. By the time 2000 came around, his knees were starting to go too. At least he was smart enough to stop after WM XIX.

Austin took the traditional neck surgery in 1999 and when he came back he was at his absolute peak ring wise for the 18 months he was there. The next injury was just too much to overcome.

Angle is comparable because he could have done the same thing Austin did, Him and Austin had prior neck injury history yet Angle didn't think correctly and wanted to rush back. He too could have had a great return ala Benoit and Austin.

But by taking the "Miracle" surgery he didn't really heal the neck and it has only hurt him more in the long run.

and it works the same for the Physical/Health aspect too; Benoit and Austin came back in their best physical shape in years. If Angle had done that, he would have been stronger physicall and not looked so bad. Instead now he IS deteriorating in both physical look and ring wise.

Maybe he stopped juicing.

That's true about Benoit but I'm not so sure if that hasn't always been the case for Benoit. However, despite that, It doesn't seem to bother Benoit much.

We never hear of Benoit having the pains and numbness that Angle CONSTANTLY has aside from the usual soreness that comes from the game they play. Benoit has been 2 years removed since his surgery in 2001 and has been in perfect condition and injury free since.

So I'm not sure if the one arm is smaller thing really has meaning to it, it could just be a case of the juice he uses or perhaps a case of aging.

I've never seen anyone quit juicing and become almost transparently ripped. Look at Triple H from early 2003 and his feud with Steiner and then late 2003- present. Kurt looks great but his overall body size looks to be decreasing unproportionally.

I honestly believe Eddy Guerrero looks worse then Angle and Benoit and HHH combined.

HHH just lost mass likely because he got lazy or was too injured to work out( the flubb is pretty much gone now). Angle looks weaker not because he might have stopped juicing but because of the surgery, he has constant numbness in his arms and hands and thus can't work out anymore.

Benoit just has a shorter arm then the other. That's not too bad.

Eddy however just looks completely sick and the outburst of Bacne is gross. Eddy is easily the most un-natural looking physique in WWE.

Oh, if we're going by appearence...Austin looked a lot better in 2000-2001 than before he had the surgery.

umm...He had the surgery Late 1999 and was gone ALL of 2000 until mid october (save for one short apperence at backlash).

I think you're paying little attention here. Austin had the fusion done that damn near all other wrestlers with neck problems have had (Edge, Rhyno, Benoit, etc.) They all look great because they had the right surgery. Austin had already had the surgery where you say he looked great. (2000-2001).

Angle DID not have this same surgery and now looks to be breaking down much like Orndoff ended up looking.

Your posts are only repeating something already acknowledged.

I skipped out for a few minutes and when I returned, everyone already replied. I don't think Angle is even close to looking like Orndorff (god, that arm scares me sometimes), but he should take time off for the real surgery.

I know, already mentioned.

Eddy definetly ranks high on the most fucked up physique list. His torso is small but about 6 inches up his chest and ribs begin to enlarge and his chest looks huge at times compared to his relatively smaller legs.

How was he an idiot? The surgery was a complete success and he came back and was doing just fine until he took the unprotected chair shot to the head from Brock which is what fucked him up and led him to where he is now.

Not the same one.

The surgery he required after Wrestlemania would've ended his career.

I know I'm probably not supposed to bring up his name, but I was reading one of Scott Keith's reviews a while back, and he mentioned he thought his crossface looked a little funny, and then it hit him. The left arm looks to be smaller. I checked... and he was right. I'm more worried about Benoit then Angle.

Ever since Angle came back, I think for last years' Rumble, he started looking really ripped and a lot less muscle mass.

I think he either stopped juicing, cut down his work program because it hurts too much, or he really is just becoming more lean.

His arms look small as hell but maybe he wants to loose weight. Don't ask why..
