Sorry ifthis thread has been made. I searched, but aftert he search engine took about five minutes, nothing came up.

The reason I made this poll was because I wanterd to know which you thought was better, widescreen or fullscreen.

Personally, i'm going with widescreen.

Widescreen. I actually want to see the production in its original aspect ratio.

It depends on the original aspect ratio of the film.

But for newer movies, widescreen is better than full screen just because it contains all the image data.

I know older people prefer full-screen because they're used to watching television that way and are threatened by change. Commonly heard:

"Those black bars are annoying!"

But we know better.

Widescreen because that's the movie's original format and you can see everything. Here's a comparison of the Star Wars special edition from 97 and the same scene on the widescreen DVD.

Big difference if I do say so myself. B-)

You know, my widescreen HD tv is awesome, but now I hate watching non HD Stuff because I get pillarboxes ---boxes on the left and right of the screen. Its more annoying than watching WS DVDs on my old tv, especially because I cant change the color of them (they are GRAY not black!!! Stupid Samsung..) Actually, I've just adjusted to stretching non HD stuff, but its kinda bad with closeups of people's heads because they look like their heads have blown up. HHH looks especially hillarious in the stretched mode.

But anyway..

Any posts and votes advocating Pan and Scan need to be made quick work of.

13-0 Widescreen leads. Thank God people here have taste in how to view their movies on DVD. I voted for WS obviously, whats the point of watching Fullscreen when you can't see the whole movie the way it's meant to be seen?

This topic has been done, but it was awhile ago, so it's long gone.

For the sake of the poll I voted widescreen, but really the original aspect ratio is what people should be concerned with.

And who's the cunt that voted for Pan and Scan? Show yourself.

Another one I heard, I think said on this board by someone relating a story. Some think they aren't getting the "full value" of their television/DVD with widescreen, because the picture isn't filling up the screen.

Why has Letterbox now gone down from 100%?

Which one of you jerks voted for fullscreen? Fess up.

It went down even before someone voted for P and S.

The "omg black bars" thing has died down just in time for people buying HD tvs to start complaining about black bars down the sides of TV shows.

I work at a video store and it is sad how many people want Full Screen. We sell muc more FS than WS. Whenever someone asks for FS, "you IDIOT" runs through my mind over and over again. What is most sad is that these morons seem very passionate about thier choice in FS.

I don't care. I hate how people get uptight about it. It doesn't really make the movie BETTER.

Widescreen if I was forced to choose would be my choice. I won't complain about watching FS. Some people would commit suicide before doing that.

glad you cleared that up. otherwise i never would've guessed the reasoning behind this thread.

Here's a question that kinda goes along with this...Am i the only one who HATES subtitles being on the actual screen instead of the black box for the WS movies? Not all of them are like this and it's actually kinda rare but some movies do this.

I always watch movies and TV in subtitles or captions and the only thing worst then that is when dvds have those bulky white subtitles at the TOP of the screen.

I wish Wrestling DVD's came with subtitles. It can't be that expensive.

i'm the other way around. i don't like the black bars constantly calling attention to themselves, and it's rare that the subtitles are obscuring any important info on the screen.

I don't think I've ever seen a movie with subtitles in the black bars...and it doesn't bother me.

I've refused to watch many movies in fullscreen, if it wasn't the OAR. Really the only time I'll let it slide is if it's a movie I don't really care about or a comedy.

Most marks seem to like Fullscreen, for some reason.

eeeew...someone used a fucking wrestling term in a discussion that's not directly about wrestling

I like the Subtitles on the black because then the movie isn't covered and there's plently of times where the subtitles blocks important stuff.

I like watching and reading at the same time. It's more annoying where the words on the movie itself.

This is the way I felt, and I got blasted by a lot of folks on here for it. However, I just prefer to actually see the whole movie.

Check that site out, and look at the comparisons between FS and WS for those who haven't converted yet.

And who the fuck are the 5 votes for fullscreen? Reveal yourselves.
