Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 5, 2004 Donald Driver plays almost exactly the same way as Robert Brooks.. Even same size and speed, and pretty much the same hands, except I think that Driver is stronger.. He's certainly more buffed up. Difference is that Brooks was the primary option in the Packers offense those Super Bowl years (the "Z" position, or flanker/split end) and Driver didn't get to be the #1 option until last year- and he vastly underperformed. And with the emergence of Javon Walker this year, Driver can still play well in a #2 spot. Man, I'm happy with Green Bay's offense! For the record, I have a gut feeling that Philly will probably win today, although I also say that because I don't want to be ridiculously disappointed should the Packers lose.. HOWEVER, I do think the game today will be a very good gauge as to how good the Packers really are.. And they deserving of the 6 game winning streak, or will they play like the 1-4 team? If they can at least keep this a close and interesting game, I'd say they've got a chance in the playoffs.

Matt Young 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2004 (edited) Atlanta/Tampa is airing out here. I haven't seen either team play this year, so I might as well check out this Michael Vick fellow I've been hearing so much about while waiting for the Packers to shock the Eagles. EDIT: Just went back to page 1 and saw the thing about Green Bay on ESPN Classic. Fuck the Falcons/Bucs game. EDIT 2: God dammit, that was yesterday. I need to pay attention to the post dates. I can't believe I missed it. Falcons/Bucs it is, then. Edited December 5, 2004 by Matt Young

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 5, 2004 I'm getting the suckfest that is Miami-Buffalo. Fuck I hate living here. I wish they at least had a good team to watch. I really wanted to see Denver-San Diego. While we wait for the afternoon games to go on, how about a little discussion.. The offensive line is quite possibly the most important position(s) in football. Agree/Disagree? I didn't find it much of a coincidence that although overall sack numbers are up this year (due to a heavy increase in blitzing) three of the top five offenses in football.. Indianapolis, Green Bay, and Denver.. Also happen to have allowed less than 10 sacks overall this year. Then there's the discussion as to what part of the game is most vital to a team's success.. Run Offense, Pass Offense, Run Defense, or Pass Defense? I think out of all those four, I'd rate them like this: 1. Run Defense 2. Rush Offense 3. Pass Offense 4. Pass Defense Which still essentially makes the game of football, really something with your feet. If you can stop the other team from picking up those short yardage plays, you force the other team into longer 3rd downs. You also minimize the time of possession for the other team, which in essence allows the rushing offense to wear down their defense and score points. This is where having a great offensive line and a strong front seven make or break a team. Vince Lombardi once said, "The game of football, completely simplified, is all blocking and tackling." and of course, execution. That may not have been the exact quote, but I believe it was something along those lines, and the man had a hell of a point. Take a look at 3 of the worst offenses in the NFL, and you're also taking a look at 3 of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. These would obviously be Miami, Chicago, and San Fran. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2004 Vick is down with Atlanta down 10-0 (7-0 if Gramatica was still kicking for them). EDIT: He's back in, but doesn't look very good. He also fumbled the ball back to Tampa, but he's not moving like Michael Vick right now.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 5, 2004 That's great news. I took the Bears over the Vikings in the pick'em league, not just because I feel the Vikings offense isn't nearly as potent on grass, but because the Bears play solid defense.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2004 As much as I'd love to see Buffalo lose, Miami winning only hurts their draft positioning. I'd much rather the Dolphins lose out the rest of the way.

Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted December 5, 2004 What's going on that game? The score seemed insane last time I saw. 31-24 Colts with 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, both teams have around 250 yards of offense, and Indy just returned a blocked FG 60-something yards for a TD. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 5, 2004 Here's another interesting stat that supports what I ranked the four aspects of football. In the NFC the top five defenses vs. the pass belong, in order, to Tampa Bay, Washington, the Giants, Chicago, and Arizona. Those teams are a combined 20-35, and only the Giants can even sniff a winning record.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2004 Atlanta is getting dominated by Tampa right now and TB just scored again 20-0. Atlanta losing helps the Eagles right now since they'll still be a game ahead even if they lose today.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 5, 2004 Also- Are the Bears starting Jeff George at quarterback? Because that would be great if they were winning with him at QB.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted December 5, 2004 If the Bears had a steady QB, they'd be in the playoffs this year. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 5, 2004 Siragusa was an All-Pro defensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens/old Browns. I'm surprised you don't know who he is Czech, unelss you were being sarcastic. Banky: I agree with you about the Bears, though I disagree that the only thing the Bears need to be playoff contenders is a QB... They also need a much better offensive line around Olin Kreutz, and some better receivers.
