HHH to appear on Off The Record

Recommended Posts

Should be very interesting, and I'm looking forward to next Tuesday. Call me crazy, but I'm most interested on his take on the Holly-Dupree incident. Most everything else I can almost predict exactly what he'll say.

It says in the preview that HHH will be asked about Jericho again and the comments he made a couple of years ago on the show. That should be interesting.

Does Dave Meltzer still write the questions?

I like how they tried to paint it that Jeff Marek wrote the questions when wrestlers were on, when it was obviously Meltzer feeding Marek. There is no bigger Meltzer mark in the world than Jeff Marek

That was fucking bizarre to watch.

Why?

It's always weird to watch dudes totally out of kayfabe, and since I've not seen shoot tapes or whatever, it's always intriguing to watch the guys talk about backstage politics after only reading them in text.

The best thing is, OTR has gotten better, in my opinion. The last time Vince McMahon was on the show, he was very open about Triple H and Stephanie McMahon being his main seconds, and possibly the future heads of the company. There's been a lot of other shows like that too. There's never been a perfect, 100% shoot, but you do get some interesting ones.

Oddly enough, I missed the first HHH one from two years ago. Can someone give me a quick recap about what he said about Jericho on that very show?

I don't have an exact recap but he basically buried Jericho on air. It was a few days before WM18 and he said something about Jericho missing a piece of the puzzle; he wasn't at that top level. Keep in mind this was when Jericho was the freaking champ.

I guess it is the cultural difference then. This is how we see wrestlers up here.

Why couldn't we have a show like this in the states? Hell, at least on the Internet. It couldn't be within a Raw or Smackdown as it would kill the illusion but there is no reason there can't be an insider type show seperate from the rest of their programming. They should sign Landsberg for a 24/7 show or something.

Not really a cultural difference, just that we have more access to that stuff up here, especially due to the coverage that Montreal got during Off The Record's initial days.

My other theory is that we're Canada and not the U.S., so Vince & Co. probably consider it less of a deal than to go into detail in Canada than in their home country. I could be wrong though.

BTW, Triple H had a three-minute interview on The Score as well. (The Score is a Headline Sports station that also carries Smackdown here in Canada.) I caught it before going into work, didn't take notes, but here's the main stuff:

- He gets along with pretty much everyone backstage. He admits that many people in the company criticized him at first for shacking up with Stephanie McMahon, but almost no one does it now, or at least they're not being open about it. He admitted to being a writer, but that Vince has final say. He also said, without naming any certain storylines, that he's given Vince ideas in the past that he thought were really good for the company, but Vince vetoed them for his own ideas.

- Pat Patterson: When asked if Pat left/was released because of the power Triple H has, Hunter responded, "You have to ask Pat that?" (Sounds an awful lot when he was asked by WWE.com if the finish to WrestleMania XIX hurt Booker T.) Said he and Pat get along great, and Pat ate Thanksgiving dinner with him and the McMahons. Thinks Pat could very well come out of retirement soon too.

- Movies: Is using movies to expand his repetoire, but wrestling is his blood, and he'll never leave the business. The Rock was mentioned because of his current movie career, but Hunter never talked about him at all during this part.
