the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/260969p-223513c.html Apparently the Phillies turned down an Utley/Madson for Hudson deal. While I am a big fan of both Utley and Madson, I would have had a hard time walking away from this deal (unless Hudson made it absolutely clear he would not sign an extension). Give me a rotation of Hudson/Lieber/Wolf/Padilla/(Myers/Floyd) and I would be very pleased. Since Utley would be moved, go ahead and bring back Polanco who is no slouch, essentially makes it a Madson/Utley for Hudson/Polanco deal.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted December 11, 2004 Gammons is on the local sports radio. He said that Cashman looked like he had been hit by a truck late last night after the Wells thing. David Wells has to pass the physical before it becomes official. Edgar Renteria was between the Tigers and Red Sox but the Red Sox have offered 4 years and $38million. Cards have given up and are going after Orlando Cabrera and Placido Polanco to fill out their infield. Red Sox were the leaders for Pavano last night after Gammons talked to Shapiro but Boston doesn't want to go to 4 or 5 years for Pavano. They had Brad Radke all tied up but 20min before Radke was set to sign the Twins called back and raised their deal to $9mill per and he chose to stay there. No buzz on D-Lowe really but Detroit and Seattle are being talked about. Beltran is a small town guy and like Vlad he's not comfortable in a place like NY. Called Allan Baird after the post season and told him he appreciated playing in KC and would love to come back. Doesn't think the Marlins will be headed to Las Vegas. Thinks it was really stupid to hardball Floridians for a new stadium just months after all the hurricanes. Still owe John Henry money for their Spring Training site. Thinks in 3-4 years there will be contraction because there are too many markets and not enough good ones. Union has lost alot of power due to their stance on the whole drug policy and being arrogant about it at first. That be it.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 Beltran is a small town guy and like Vlad he's not comfortable in a place like NY. Called Allan Baird after the post season and told him he appreciated playing in KC and would love to come back. Magglio said the same thing. It would be something if the Yanks don't get Beltran. They need him more than they need Unit. He will instantly make their entire rotation better. Why would anyone want to move to Vegas. There is nothing there besides tourists, and they don't go to baseball games. There are plenty of better places to go than there.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted December 11, 2004 I'm still curious as to where Beltre will land. No one is talking about him.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 Beltre had one good year. He is probably asking for more than what is being offered. The Mariners seem the favourite, but I hope not because I want Delgado out of the East.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted December 11, 2004 Actually the Mariners have turned their attention to Corey Koskie. Mariners main targets right now are Koskie, Delgado, Sexon, and Pavano. They're said to want at least 2.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted December 11, 2004 Beltre to the Tigers?
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 Ok, I haven't been paying that much attention to what the western teams are doing. I don't think they get them. They will get one of Delgado/Sexson, but if Toronto gives Koskie a good offer I would expect him to go there and Pavano is probably going to go either the Yanks or Sox. Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted December 11, 2004 If he doesn't stay with LA then yes, I truly believe Beltre will be with Detroit.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 It looks like: The Indians just traded Matt Lawton for Arthur Rhodes.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted December 11, 2004 Ok, I haven't been paying that much attention to what the western teams are doing. When the only thing on is Cacoon and Cacoon II: The Return you become more than willing to turn the radio on and pay attention to all the coverage. if Toronto gives Koskie a good offer I would expect him to go there That certainly would mean Hinske being traded. Unless they think he can make the move to first base. Pavano is probably going to go either the Yanks or Sox. Once the Red Sox finalise the last tidbits with Pedro they will officially be out of the Pavano sweepstakes. If Pavano wants to go to Boston he will have to not only take a reduction in salary but also years. Right now its believed the Yanks have offered 4 years and $42 mill but are willing to go up to 5 years and $55 mill to get it done. Mariners are still interested and the real wild card could be Detroit who supposedly offered 5 years and around $60mill. Pavano would then have the choice of going to Detroit and being the ace or going to the Yanks where he has a chance for another World Series ring but would be their #2 or 3 for a little less money. Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted December 11, 2004 Pavano will likely go to the Yanks.

The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 This next bit of news is sure to make TCR and Cubs fans everywhere cry The Cubs might have to part with both Kyle Farnsworth and Todd Wellemeyer in order to acquire Dan Kolb. the max 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 The rumor that I've read at a few boards now is: Mietuwotuypasghpdskghwpitruqwefwitz, Brandon Arroyo, prospect for Tim Hudson. ok Tim McCarver. His name is Bronson. He was named after Charles Bronson. If you have a problem remembering his name then associate him with the movie DeathWish and all will be good. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 Brandon Arroyo would be an even better pitcher if he got more strikeouts. Strikeouts make it hard for batters to get on base.
Bored 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 I'd rather have Jack McDowell or Mike Mussina than Oil Can Boyd or Jason Schmidt...and he's on the trade block. Who is it? Tim Hudson. I'd rather have an age 30 Jason Schmidt than and age 29 Jack McDowell but that's why these things probably mean nothing. Who the hell is Dan Kolb? Closer for the Brewers who has mastered the art of not striking out anyone.

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 He should of said he was going to retire, but end up signing with the Yankees and only pitch during their road games.
