Batista Appreciation Thread

Anyone else thinking that Batista is becoming a Hit Wrestling star on Raw?

It took about two years of Refinement from the rust he still had after getting out of the Levithan stage and the Deacon stage. Batista definately had the look to him which I always felt was far more impressive than Brock Lesnar, who looked like some Roided up 5 year old. Batista had few moves under his belt before he joined Evolution and then got injured when he returned and was full fledged healed he really improved vastly. His command presence is very good in the backstage skits and does a decent enough account on the mic. The guy is ready for at least a IC run. They made a legit Monster out of Dave and they better run with him, and stop being the Equalizer for HHH.

And the fans seem to get behind Batista alot easier than they would, during those tease faceturns and such. Im guessing people are seeing this improvement and appreciate his work.

I'm a fan of the Metrosexual Monster. I also think that there's more heat being given to his potential turn/feud with HHH than there is to Orton's current chase. That's coming from an Orton fan.

Batista for WWE Champion in 2005! Fuck Randy Orton... Batista gets heat for standing around. Orton couldn't buy heat with a million dollars.

he looked menacing before wwe.

i hated him when he first came in. hated him even more with evolution. but ever since randy orton broke away, him and flair grew on to me. and of course, he's the sharpest dude on the whole roster with them suits he rocks.

he does need a lot of improvment imo on wrestling. he has that whole powermove set that all big hosses have but he just needs to string them better together. and i want to see him in a good match too. when was his last good match? vs. kane awhile back? i dunno.

that and i read he's filipino and german. good to see my people's out there. him and rob schneider should do a comedy together.

I have been a fan of Batista for a real long time now. He should win the strap in 2005 not Orton.

Batista has "the look". I remember a few weeks back, they did a backstage skit where Bischoff was talking to a bunch of guys who would be taking part in a battle royal that night (I think it was for a shot at the IC title or something). Batista looked like a much bigger star than everyone else in the room, and he didn't say a word the whole time.

My sig's a year old now. :P When he becomes World Heavyweight Champ, I called it first.

But seriously, I think it's about time that someone from OVW actually deserved love from both mark and smark.

Batista has the look but that is it. I NEVER want him to become world champ.

Batista is a Great Tag wrestler.

He will bomb as a major single wrestler in a Main fued becuase his moves are Spinebuster, Powerbomb and strikes. Thats great for Tag matches, but if he goes 20 mintues with HHH, it will be just aweful.

He's already got more to offer than Rock or Austin ever had then.

Let's put it this way. Flashback to the Rumble match between Hunter and Steiner.

Suddenly Batista is looking like, oh, I don't know, maybe a half decent contender.

He should team up with Benoit, and become part of one of the most feared combinations in history. The perfect balance between technical ability, and strength and power.

I can't say it enough.

Benista.

Man of the Year.

Benista.

:)

Austin was 100 times the wrestler at KotR 96 then Batista is now.

And Im Sure Bruno Sammartino was more a wrester in the 60's than Austin in 96 WHO Cares about 8 years ago anymore?

It might be a side effect of him being prominent only with a group, but I have a hard time envisioning Batista as a guy on his own in feuds with people. I can't see him in the ring calling some guy out or something. Give him a few more months to really develop a character of some kind that the fans can get behind in the long-term, because this current groundswell (on the part of 90% of the audience anyway) is more a result of him challenging HHH and breaking away from his group. Any time a heel starts to show signs of rebellion against the higher-placed heel, it's almost guaranteed a good reaction. Maybe if they'd gone the same route with Orton he wouldn't be in his current stillborn state.

Personally, I don't think so. The night Orton split from Evolution, people here were all applauding WWE for how well-executed the turn had been. Hell, the Raw thread where it happened is even in Classic Threads. I think it's more what Orton did *after* the breakup (his lame, forced Rock imitations etc) that have exposed his weaknesses.

I'm foaming at the mouth for when Batista is finally out on his own. He has a strong character - assuming he can keep it after the inevitable break from Evolution. He looks awesome, can actually cut a promo or just scream like a roided monster, and is far more charismatic than Mr. Orton has proven to be out on his own. I love his finisher, it looks brutal and makes my spine hurt when I see him do it.

Plus, he looks super hot in a suit and that counts for just a small part of my Batista fan-girlness. Small. Promise.

What the FUCK are you talking about?

He brought up that Batista had more to offer than Austin and Rock when they started getting there pushes and I disagree.

I'm a Batista supportet, but outside of the tag scene he has big limitations. His matches with Jericho prove it. Every one of them just seemed very awkward and very sketchy. Obviously, he has the support, look, character etc. So, he'd likely be a success as World Champion somewhere down the line. But, I still don't see him becoming a BIG star and having the one, stellar match that puts him over the top.

And for the record, Orton's problems may stem from the pointless World Title run he was given maybe? After the Benoit match, a strong reign would have cemented him as a star. Instead, he got cut off at the knees.

Count me on the Batista bandwagon too. I had the honor of meeting him and he's a nice dude despite his intimidating appearance.

Oh and LooneyTune that's going in the sig.
