Giuseppe Zangara Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 To claim otherwise would be pure folly.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted December 14, 2004 Author Report Posted December 14, 2004 This needed its own thread.
PLAGIARISM! Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 We all know you're soft cos we've all seen you dancing We all know you're hard cos we've all seen you drinking From noon until noon again
Mystery Eskimo Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 No. All of Tigermilk is better.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted December 16, 2004 Author Report Posted December 16, 2004 "Lazy Line Painter Jane" . . . . . . . . . . . . . "The State I Am In" the rest of B&S' non-TBWTAS/FYHC,YWLAP catalog TBWTAS/FYHC,YWLAP
Henry Spencer Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 I like "The Stars Of Track And Field". It was a long time before I even heard the rest of the album because I would listen to that on repeat. Yeah.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted December 16, 2004 Author Report Posted December 16, 2004 I always thought this band was good, but nothing extraordinary. For the longest time, "Lazy Line..." had little effect on me, until, that is, the other day, when the "you will have a boy tonight" line was stuck in my head. I couldn't even remember what it was at first, but once I recalled it I put it on and BAM. Heaven.
Mystery Eskimo Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 That is a good line. But not as good as: "Now I spend my days turning tables round in Marks & Spencers, they don't seem to mind"
Giuseppe Zangara Posted December 19, 2004 Author Report Posted December 19, 2004 I used to like that song "Step Into My Office, Baby" until my station cohorts played the shit out of it when it was in rotation a year ago. It was college radio's "Hey Ya," really. And we played that one a lot, too.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I love Belle & Sebastian. Their new single, "Your Cover's Blown," is definately worth a listen. Lazy Line Painter Jane is a great song, but it's probably not my favorite. It's definately up there though.
Kinetic Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 That last album was the best thing they'd done since If You're Feeling Sinister. In all seriousness, they're in really rare company as a current band that I care even the slightest bit about.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted December 28, 2004 Author Report Posted December 28, 2004 This band still isn't great outside of "Lazy Line Painter Jane," however. I prefer the less fey, but still wimpy, indie pop of the Go-Betweens.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted December 28, 2004 Author Report Posted December 28, 2004 And hey, I'm aware the two don't sound much alike, but I'm listening to Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express right now, and "Head Full of Steam" is so great.
Si82 Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 I used to like that song "Step Into My Office, Baby" until my station cohorts played the shit out of it when it was in rotation a year ago. It was college radio's "Hey Ya," really. And we played that one a lot, too. I really like "Step Into My Office Baby".
