Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2004 After dealing with mucho crap from my POS Compaq, I was finally blessed with a spiffy Dell last Christmas. It was smooth sailings until recently, when it became lethargic. I tried defragmenting it, having only a handful of programs running (turned off most of the programs through msconfig), and doing regular Norton scans. Last week, I began to get these blue screens popping up saying that an error had occurred with Windows and it needed to shut down. Under that it said something about the volume (vague, I know, but I can't remember any of the other words). It said to restart the computer, which I did, but I couldn't get anything but the blue screen. Anyway, my uncle, who's a computer whiz, took it home, and fixed the problem. Or so it seemed. Lately I've been getting the same blue screen with "Kernal_Data_Inpage_Error" under the message. I have to restart the computer and everything seems fine, but this is happening more frequently, and I'm not sure what the hell it is. Anyone experience anything similar to this or can throw some advice my way on what steps to take to ensure that this computer doesn't become a hunk of crap like my old one? Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2004 You probably have a nasty virus or your power supply is dying.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2004 sounds like the power supply or the main hardrive is set up as a slave instead of the master(OMG RAYCYST~!) Did you open it up and start messing with stuff. That can create alot of problems with computers...and women.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Yeah my uncle had to fix something and he thought he might've changed that in the process. Unfortunately, I've since had to replace my hardrive because of a trojan that did too much damage to fix. I'm actually on my girlfriend's computer right now, since I don't have everything set up on mine yet. I love technology, but I'll be damned if I don't periodically have a problem related to it.
