Henry's contract is a no-cut one, so he can't be fired.

So those Russo-esque, Mr. America-like contracts where the wrestler can't be fired actually exist? :bonk:

I'm sure if Mark Henry murdered someone or something he can be fired. A.K.A. reasonable termination.

Yep, and they don't have to see them wrestle prior to signing, either!

But seriously, I think that if they were to release him, they would still have to pay most or all of his contract, plus the possibility of lawsuits for wrongful termination, so the WWF just never bothered with that can of worms and kept him on.

If Mark Henry is earning $1 million per year then he's a fucking smart man. Unfortunetly if brains were gasoline he couldn't propel a flee on a motorcycle around a rain drop, and he would admit to that.

Seriously though... Mark is a good guy who has had a bad run with injuries. Let's not hate on the guy because some dumb shit gave him a good contract. Given the chance and the right siruation he will get over.

Jim Cornette frequently tells the boys in OVW... "Good booking cannot overcome bad talent, good talent can over come bad booking."

Mark is a good talent you just haven't seen it yet, but you will, and you'll be surprised. Trust me!

I guess your sources told you this.

Well I know him personally and have seen most of his stuff in OVW. I also think I'm qualified to determin whether or not someone is a good worker...

Since no one else is mentioning it...

Am I the only one happy with the slight possibility of a return in the ring for Christopher Nowinski?

I'd love to see him back...bring The Genius character to modern day WWE.

Nowinski would be great in a managerial role, but he's pretty much a lost cause as an active wrestler. I wouldn't think the WWE would want to put a guy in the ring that's taken over a year to recover from post-concussion syndrome.

I honestly don't see the big deal about Nowinski (I for some reason keep thinking it's Nowitski). He's good on the mic, but his in ring stuff was never that good in the first place. I don't see how he could've gotten any better since being injured.

Manager he could be like previously noted, but thats all I see of him that would be entertaining.

Ok. May I ask why you feel you can determine who is a good worker?

Also, if you know the guy personally isn't that going to make your opinion a little more biased towards him?

Does anyone else find it humorous that Mark Henry was making $1 million in 1997 while Bret Hart was making only slightly more and the thought was that *Bret's* contract was costing the company too much money?

Well, the fact that Mark Henry wasn't the one bitching every time the company did anything raunchy probably tipped the scales a tad.

Hadn't Henry also just won the Worlds strongest man competition, so Vince probably felt bringing in Henry would bring in new viewers

I'm also happy with the possibility of a Nowinski return to the ring. Although it would probably be prudent to put him in a managerial and/or announcer role until he gets the hang of everything again.

Actually, Mark Henry had just competed at the 1996 Olympics when Vince signed him. He didn't get very far however, due to injury I believe.

I remember a small article in WWF Magazine back in 1995 about Mark Henry, so they were eyeballing him as far back as then. I think MH was taken out of the Olympics because he pulled a muscle or something.
