Bored Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Doesn't appear to be much interest in this game but it's the only game tonight so might as well create a thread for it. Telecast starts at 8:00/5:00 PM at ABC.
iggymcfly Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 OK! What an exciting showdown! We have the best team in the country, unstoppable 12-0 Auburn getting a chance to show just how good they are against... a two-loss team who lost to NC State before finally cracking the top ten at the end of the season. Gotta love the bowl system.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Does this mean no MNF for NFL? Anyways I'll be watching this... because what else am I going to watch? Wrestling? *HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!* I predict Auburn wins by 14.
Slayer Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 But VaTech's other loss was a tight game against USC. I can't explain away the NCSU loss though. And at least Auburn gets some viable competition, as opposed to Utah getting a Pitt team that so backdoored into the bowl system, their head was in the ground.

Well at least Utah caught Pitt and anally raped them.
Guest Flyboy Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 But VaTech's other loss was a tight game against USC. And if it wasn't for that phantom PI call....
HarleyQuinn Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 I think the final score will be Auburn 42, Virginia Tech 24. Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown will be too much to stop and Jason Campbell is an underrated QB.
Damaramu Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 I want VT to win but after watching Auburn play it's so hard to think they won't win.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Carlos Rogers being on the big stage is going to make his draft stock rise big time. There are only two CBs I'd take over Rogers in the draft at this point. Those being Marlin Jackson and Rolle.
Guest Flyboy Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 I'd rank the cornerbacks: 1. Rolle 2. Rogers 3. Adam "Pac-Man" Jones 4. Marlin Jackson
Guest Failed Mascot Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Why isn't Jason Campbell getting any recognition? You here all the talk about Leinart, Rogers, and Smith but nothing on Campbell. I think its bullshit personally.
2GOLD Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Why isn't Jason Campbell getting any recognition? You here all the talk about Leinart, Rogers, and Smith but nothing on Campbell. I think its bullshit personally. Cause he's not the top threat on his own team. Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown are the stars of the Tigers ahead of Campbell. Gotta be the star to get an ounce of recognition.
converge241 Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 cant wait to leave work and get home an watch this..followign it online now VT is my team and im rooting for them but not positive they WILL win
2GOLD Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Wow, the Va Tech run defense just got slapped in the face on the first carry of the game. Ouch. They rebounded nicely though, held Auburn to a field goal. 3-0
Guest Failed Mascot Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 VT should feel pretty lucky they only gave up 3 there. Auburn should have gone play action right after that 30+ yard run.
Vern Gagne Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 16-13 Whatever the outcome. I don't think the voters can justify moving Auburn past Oklahoma.
Damaramu Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Auburn did alright in this game but I dunno if they can make claim to the National Title just yet.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 USC beat Virginia Tech 24-13, so that already disqualifies Auburn from serious consideration, IMO.
nogoodnick Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 I don't think there was much of a chance of a split national title but this pretty much solidifies a single champion.
Secret Agent Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Not to mention that Auburn almost lost their ass. Auburn didn't win the game, VT lost it for themselves by: A - missing a field gold five feet away from the kickers face. B - Throwing a pass to the endzone to a wide open guy that was thrown about ten feet over the receivers head. C - Stupidly fumbling the ball on that fake field goal attempt. Auburn has no case for a split title - Just because they are undefeated doesn't guarentee you that spot anymore. Besides, after tomorrow night there will be 3 undefeated's and you either split it 3 ways or give it all to one.

So the winner of the Orange Bowl should take it outright. Tough shit for Auburn fans, I say.
Art Sandusky Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 I can't ignore that Auburn was five minutes from shutting out the 10-22 9th-ranked ACC Champion that could have been 12-0 coming in without a couple of unfortunate happenings. Unless either USC or OU totally manhandle the other team tomorrow night, Auburn is still my #1 team.
Stephen Joseph Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Auburn will be the first undefeated team to NOT be National Champion. This is why the BCS is in fact, BS. I would love to see a 4 team playoff
Guest Failed Mascot Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Auburn is willing to play the playoff game...if the other team is willing then throw them in the SuperDome for a game. God knows the Saints won't be needing to use it for awhile.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 USC was willing to play against the winner of Sugar Bowl last year, still got vetoed. I don't see it changing this year.
Secret Agent Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 What about Utah? Auburn may be undefeated, but there will be 3 when tonight's game is over. They should just be proud to be Sugar Bowl Champions and shut the hell up.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 how many really difficult teams did Utah beat though? Auburn was going through ranked teams like no tommorow.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 They could do Auburn/Utah in the backwoods, winner faces Orange Bowl winner.... I mean, Pitt is nothing, so Utah shouldnt be too tired from that.

God knows the Saints won't be needing to use it for awhile. Of course they are. Oklahom or USC, won't care what Auburn wants.
