Guest Ether Report post Posted January 5, 2005 Actually, can anybody recall a controversial pick for the national title game that actually justified its placement on the field. This year, Oklahoma was picked over Auburn and is getting drilled. Last year, Oklahoma was picked over USC and got thumped also. 2001 had Nebraska not even win its own division only to be crushed by Miami, while 2000 had Florida State get picked over a Miami team that beat them earlier in the earlier, and Oklahoma basically shut them out. The only good national title game that I can think of recently was the 2003 Fiesta Bowl between Miami and Ohio State, where it was obvious who #1 and #2 were. And I'm a firm believer in ranking teams based just on the looks of the cheerleading squad. You know, to make them more important to the game of college football.
