I hope Brian Griese gets some votes for Comeback Player. I think he played well for Tampa after sucking for quite a while. However, I do think Brees should win.

MVP: Peyton Manning, even if he doesn't really define the term "Most Valuable" (I think McNabb and Favre have been sharing that honor for quite some time now)

Offensive POY: Drew Brees

Defensive POY: Ed Reed

Offensive ROY: BenRo (duh)

Defensive ROY: This is hard, but I'd guess Jonathan Vilma. There really hasn't been any outstanding rookie defensive play.

Coach of the year: Bill Belichick- Mostly because he's been dealing with ANOTHER year of a rash of injuries, and being at the top, and he's still come out with only 4 losses in the past two seasons, period. I'll also give runner-up credit to Mike Sherman who is obviously going to be overlooked, but overcame a 1-4 start to win 9 of their last 11 games to become the ninth team in NFL history to make the playoffs after a 1-4 start.

Comeback Player: Joey Porter. Hello everybody, GUNSHOT WOUND? Brees was a great quarterback already who had no weapons and no confidence and had a fire lit under him this year. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, that there was no reason to have been looking at Philip Rivers at ALL. Roy Williams on that SD team would have made them unstoppable.

I know I will be called a homer cause I am a Redskins fan but I honestly do think the comeback player should go to Shawn Springs. Before this season he was battling injuries the past few years, and was victimized by TO in the infamous Sharpie incident. THis season he played at a probowl level much like he did during his 3 trips to the probowl. Shawn Springs was a shutdown corner this season.

Hmmm...

Jonathan Vilma

16 games

107 tackles

2 sacks

3 interceptions

1 touchdown

0 forced fumbles

Dunta Robinson

16 games

87 tackles

3 sacks

6 interceptions

0 touchdowns

3 forced fumbles

When you take into account the fact that Dunta started out the season getting picked on by the entire league and by the end of the season teams were avoiding him and trying to go after a former Pro Bowler and All-Pro in Aaron Glenn, I'd consider that if not "outstanding" then pretty damn close.

Well, outside of those two. I meant it as no disrespect, but the glory hogs this year in the rookie class has all been on offense, folks.
