ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Having read the Death of WCW book a few times now, and looking back in the past at DDT Digest... I was wondering, what are some nights that were historic in some of the things that happened. The one I know about right now is 8/9/99. On Raw, Chris Jericho made his WWF Debut. On Nitro, Benoit won the US Title from David Flair...and Hulk Hogan for the first time since the Summer of 1996 returned to the red and yellow. Anyone else have some examples? BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 (Edited for Chris) September 5, 1995: The war begins. May 27, 1996: Scott Hall appears on Nitro. November 10, 1997: "Bret Screwed Bret" graces the Raw airwaves. November 17, 1997: Rick Rude appears on both Raw and Nitro. December 22, 1997: The nWo Nitro experiment fails, with Raw winning in the 9:00-10:00 hour for the first time in months, a sign of things to come. April 13, 1998: Raw snaps the streak. July 6, 1998: Goldberg defeats Hollywood Hogan for the WCW title. It is one of the last major Nitro victories. September 14, 1998: Ric Flair makes a long awaited return to Nitro to a standing ovation by the Greenvile, SC fans. November 2, 1998: Raw's streak begins, one they hold onto for the rest of the war. January 4, 1999: "That'll put butts in the seats" rings true as thousands of fans switch from Nitro to Raw to see Mick Foley win the WWF Title. The Fingerpoke of Doom later that night starts to spell the end for WCW. May 24, 1999: Raw is Owen. October 18, 1999: The first Nitro under Vince Russo (one that not suprisingly resembles Raw) airs. January 31, 2000: The Radicals debut on Raw. April 10, 2000: Nitro's relaunch draws decent ratings, but WCW is unable to follow up in subsequent weeks. March 26, 2001: The war ends. Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Not sure of the date, but Rick Rude pulling doubletime always struck me as a fun moment that defined the WCW Stage of the Monday Night War.
