I watched the second quarter up to the Wayne TD, and it's a moot point to talk about bad calls from the ref when bad plays on the part of Jake Plummer are really what's draggin this team down. He's made some HORRIBLE throws. He was doing nothing in Arizona, why was Mike Shanahan so high on him? Or maybe he was high? Other then his big playoff win in Dallas he's done nothing of note. The Colts have been doing this all year. It's not a question of whether they can do it outside, it's a question of whether they can do it against a team like the Steelers or the Pats. Even the Jets defense is better then the Broncos. Apparently all those offseason acquisitions that were supposed to bolster the Broncs secondary helped them achieve EXACTLY the same pass defense statistics as last year, in terms of ranking. The win last week just instilled a sense of false confidence.

Sure, he throws a lot of picks, but he has a rebellious quality that is cool, plus, he has a bumblehead coach to deal with and...c'mon, it's the post-Elway Broncos. They suck. Perhaps if Denver could play defense and kick shitty penalized onside kicks Plummer wouldn't be looking at a 25 point defecit.

KingPK Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 In my eyes, it looks like the way to stop the Colts' offense is to do much like the Patriots did to the Rams in SB 36: almost never blitz, put in 5-6-or even 7 DBs, and stay with the receivers and HIT THEM when they get the ball. Of course, if the refs get too happy with the chuck rule, then you have to get into a shootout.

Brady and the Pats have torched them for 32 ppg in the last few years, so they need to find out a way to keep that down, since, even though Law and Poole are out, the Pats have LBs that can pick it off as well as anyone.

I'm not in good spirits about the Indy/NE game with the Pats secondary the way it is right now. It's short and battered. I think the Billy B undefeated Patriot Playoff record is about to come to a halt. And if it doesn't, can't WAIT to hear the excuse from the Colts. And the rule change the NFL makes for their whining golden boy.

People will still say the Colts D sucks but let's be honest: The Broncos got 21 pts. in the 2nd half when it was over anyway. It was garbage time type points. In the 1st half the Colts D was actually pretty good.
