The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 So I've played 4 before and was interested in getting it, but then I saw this game. It looks like it has more stuff to it, but I wanted to check first: 1. Is there anything NOT in this game that is in 4? Like, characters or stuff? Are there more/less areas? 2. Are the extra features (like the whole empire campaign bit) any good? Thanks for any help.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 Empires is really just for the hardcore fans. It doesn't offer much in terms of innovation over the previous title. As for your questions: 1. No. There are zero new characters. However, the 'create a warrior' option has been completely revamped and bulked up to include the option of giving warriors any weapon that is used in the game. There are new areas, about 4 I think. These areas are nothing special though. Also, areas like Chi Bi and a few others are not actually on the map. You have to meet these crazy specific requirements in order to play there. 2. Empire mode is fun, but it all depends on how into the game you are. I love the whole series, so I can pretty much play endlessly and still dig it. However, it's repetitive as all hell. Basically, it's just you capturing strongholds until either the ruler is killed or the main camp is taken. Practically no strategy is involved at all, despite the claims of KOEI. If I were you, I would just save up for Dynasty Warriors 5, which comes out in March (in the United States). Not much news has been released on it yet, but it will no doubt be legions better than Empires. All i know so far is that Cao Pi is in this time, the son of Cao Cao. The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 No. There are zero new characters. So, does it have all the characters that 4 has? I had heard that some of the games had less characters - I don't want that.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 Has em all. Plus you can play as the "loser" generic generals like Wang Lang and whatnot, so there's actually more characters. I love Empires, but DW4 is a more complete game. I think it's greatest hits, so it won't set you back too much. Or just wait for DW5.
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 Yeah, 4 is Greatest Hits, but I can get Empires for only like, 5-10 bucks more, so I wondered if it was worth it. I doin't think I'll wait for 5 though; paying 60 dollars for a video game is not my cup of tea. I've only done that ONCE, and I regret it.
