1/15 SD house show results

Recommended Posts

Thanks to Richard Seale for the following:

Well, just got back from the house show in Kitchener, Ontario and it was quite the disappointment. Most of the upper red seats were empty and the crowd was not really into the card for most of the night. There was a shuffle in the schedule, but that was probably meant to make up for the injury to RVD.

Anyway, the results were:

John Cena over Kurt Angle.

Cena challenged Angle because Angle was upset that Cena had modified the US title. Huge pop for Cena and a "You Suck" chant for angle. While this match would normally be a must-see, too many rest holds ruined the match for me.

Theodore Long came out and thanked everybody for coming. He announced the card and it was quite different from the advertised one.

In a Royal Rumble qualifying match, Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak defeated Nunzio and Scotty Too Hotty. Cruisers got some action in doing the "embarrass the monster" routine, but in the end, Jindrak and Reigns won with their power. Didn't see Jindrak in the match too often. Reigns had a lot of heat with the ringside fans.

Kenzo Suzuki with Hiroko defeated Charlie Haas.

While there was no reaction to either athlete, Charlie Haas was very athletic and showed himself to be one of the most underrated wrestlers on Smackdown. Kenzo won after Charlie had his head snake-eyed into an exposed turnbuckle.

Paul London beat Rene Dupree

The best match of the night even though it was surprising to see London go over Dupree. Dupree got mild heat for being French in Ontario. Each athlete deserves a push. The most comedic moment of the night was the referee strutting. London won with his flip off the ropes.

Bashams over Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio

Long wait for the match to get started as the Bashams argued with the crowd. When the match was finally ready to begin, Eddie and Rey grabbed the belts and walked to the back. When the match finally started, it was a basic match with Eddie getting pinned despite hitting the frogsplash. There was no referee because he was busy with Rey and the other Basham. When Eddie got Rey to leave the ring, he turned around and was greeted by a sit-down powerbomb and got pinned. After the match, Eddie got upset and walked away angry, leaving Rey upset that Eddie was mad at him. Eddie refused to shake his hand before leaving and shrugged Rey's help off. Eddie also tried a comedy routine in moving the tag rope when the referee tried to make him hold onto it.

After the intermission, the hot body contest occurred between Dawn Marie and Miss Jackie. Jackie is hot. Basic stuff. They disrobed. They shook their asses. Crowd voted Jackie the winner and Dawn complained. It looked like they were going to wrestle, but they were interrupted by Heidenreich who complained that the audience hurt his feelings by cheering the divas.

Heidenreich over Hardcore Holly

For a guy that gave the Undertaker a run for his money, Heidenreich was put over as very weak in this match. When Holly wasn't chopping him, Heidenreich had Holly in a bearhug for most of the match. Stiff clothesline won the match for Heidenreich. There was next to no reaction from the crowd.

Funaki defeated Chavo and Spike

The two faces worked over Spike for a while. With Funaki out of the ring, Chavo knocked Spike out of the match. Some of the fans complained that Spike was the best man in the match. After some back and forth, Funaki won with a reversal.

Big Show beats JBL by DQ

JBL got huge heat for insulting Canada, calling the soldiers wimps and claiming that the Americans had to protect Canada. When the Big Show arrived, the fans went crazy wanting him to shut JBL up. Show got some offence in before JBL took out the knee. Match saw lots of interference by Orlando Jordan with fans outraged. When Show was about to finish JBL off, the Bashams ran in and got JBL disqualified. Show got mad and took out the Bashams and Orlando while JBL ran away.

Again, show was disappointing with many boring matches and a card that looked very thrown together. Man, I wish that it would have been a Raw card like originally scheduled. Oh well, the next Kitchener event can only be better.

Biggest Pops:

Big Show (to shut JBL up)

John Cena

Eddie Guerrero

Miss Jackie

Rey Mysterio

Biggest Heat:

JBL (Anti-Canada rant)

Kurt Angle

Reigns/Jindrak

Rene Dupree

London went over Dupree!? Either Dupree pissed someone off or London is being pushed.

I'll go with the former.

Maybe the guy is one of the following...

1. Being negative just because he can.

2. He's deaf.

Or the ever popular...

3. He's a fucking moron/retard/idiot/dumbass/insert other forms of insulting someones intelligence here.

No Nunzio waiting on the outside like a genius, like last year?

Fuck.

Depends... they have to fill out 5 or 6 spots with people that have no right to be in the rumble... according to WWE. (Meaning jobbers and Cruiserweights with no chance in hell).

when the biggest highlight of the night is Paul London beating Rene Dupree, then that should tell one something.

Isn't it a bit unfair to have a rumble qualifying match between a regular tag team and two guys who have NEVER teamed up, and have only just returned to SD/Velocity? My God WWE, use logic you fool.

And why are Jindrak and Reigns in the match? They'll serve NO purpose at all. At least, as someone mentioned, with Nunzio you can do the hiding outside the ring thing. You could even do a follow up to it, with Nunzio hiding UNDER the ring this year. And Scotty attempting the Worm, then getting thrown out while doing the stupid jumpy thing would have been amusing.

Yes. That'll do. I'm shocked, SHOCKED I say, that London went over, but it's all good. Now do something with him. I care not about Dupree.

Hey, remember a year ago when Eddie was facing the Bashams all the time, and we were complaining that he should be pushed? Thank God they decided to make him a star, I don't think I could put up with more of Eddie being absolutely wasted in the midcard with no direction, no purpose and jobbing to the Bashams. Thanks a lot for pushing him, WWE. You sure are star makers.

Oh, and they suck if they turn Eddie (not that they don't suck anyway). I am, however, kinda interested in the Rey/Eddie issue (which is more than I can say about anything else in the company). Of course, i'd be shocked if they took it anywhere good.

Why can't eddy stick with a partner? Its booker then rey then booker then rey.

and why the hell was Cena and Angle jerking the show?

That should have been a main event or at least the intermission pre match.

Jackie Gayda got a bigger pop than London?

To be fair, does half the marks really know who London is? He isn't really the guy who gets reaction before the match, but rather after.

Probably because Rob was injured. It was suppose to be Rob/Rey vs. Bashams, I'm sure.

Best match and London still couldn't even come in at number five for a pop? Well, that's the show folks.

edit: You know I wish they'd make London a Christian-Palestinian that has a grudge against the jews. Atleast then he could get something, anything from the crowd to go along with his entertaining style.

London kinda looks like Colin Farrell, so...

They should make him a Drunk Irish, mushroom-stomping bastard.
