Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Well it's National Signing Day. Who's going to sign who? Who is your team going to come away with? Last I checked Tennessee had the best recruiting class thus far. Does anyone have the Top recruiting classes? Anyways what do you guys think about the incoming freshmen? CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 It depresses me that this is a top news story every year around this time.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Why? It's kind of exciting to see who every school is going to pick up and see if anyone actually went out and recruited help. I'm hoping OU recruited some secondary players that actually care about the game of football.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Call me an idealist, but it's depressing watching the media treating kids deciding where they're going to school like they would the NFL draft, with the kids being nothing more than hired help. I realize it's a two way street on the schools' and the kids' part, but glorifying it doesn't help things any.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Also it's depressing cause they're deciding on a freaking college! Being in college myself, it just seems odd to make a big deal about a person choosing college. Granted, they could help the sports teams but how many freshmen actually make a significant impact on their respective teams?

USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Damaramu, they're right. The only people who cares are fans of a strong program. And not a lot of those people do anyways. This is not really necessary to have a thread about it.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 I think it is. A lot of programs are looking for impact players. Plus it's great to see who bungles what. Like Mack Brown who just gave up two top QB's to Mizzou and LSU. Or OU who raped Texas for talent.......again........ And Tennessee I believe has the best recruiting class and are going to look good if they all pan out. Quit being negative and talk. Jeez.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 *looks at Adrian Peterson, Michael Hart, and Chad Henne* Yeah Freshman suck. I never said Freshmen suck. As far as the guys listed, I can also think of Ted Ginn Jr. That's 4 guys out of how many who are hyped?

In my teams case they're losing two All-Americans in Vince Carter and Jammal Brown and need someone to replace them b/c OU is not deep on either line so a Freshman can step in and have tons of help. Fuck OU isn't deep anywhere except in the recieving core......anyone can make an impact on this team next year.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 I'm sorry Al. I don't mean to sound bossy or anything. However it pisses me off that people are making big deal out of kids going to college. On related note: The Rock's nephew is considering going to USC. If he is as good as the Rock was in college, this would be a good signing. Not that I care. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Mack Brown will get another top 5 class and lose to Oklahoma... Well Mack Brown just lost the #1 recruit to LSU. Les Miles steps into LSU and screws Texas after years of losing to them in the Big XII. It was probably more Saban's doing in the long run but Miles had to close the deal. Can you blame him for going to LSU, who has no proven starting QB, over Texas, who has 2 more years of Vince Young? Perriloux (or however you spell it) has a better opportunity at LSU; it has nothing to do with Mack Brown blowing it.

Well he had another great QB he was in on and he wouldn't fully commit to the guy so the kid said "I'm going to Mizzou. Fuck you." and took off. Then after he couldn't get the kid that went to LSU he started begging this other kid.
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 I'm pleased with Penn State's recruiting class. Not ranked really high, but they did get a couple of playmakers it seems. This is something they've been sorely lacking. I would like to see Joe Pa take these kids through, see if he can do anything, and then call it a day.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 It's now being reported on ESPN Sportscenter and Rivals.com that OU has the #1 recruiting class. *dances* Anyways here's the Top 25 as of now according to Rivals. 1) OU 2) Tennessee 3) USC 4) Nebraska 5) Florida State 6) Michigan 7) Miami 8) Georgia 9) Texas A&M 10) Iowa 11) Ohio State 12) Auburn 13) California 14) Florida 15) Virginia Tech 16) Arizona 17) Alabama 18) Maryland 19) Clemson 20) Virginia 21) Texas 22) South Carolina 23) Arkansas 24) LSU 25) UCLA USC has the most 5-star recruits with 4 and OU has 2. But the reason OU goes to #1 over USC and Tenn is that OU has 14 4-star recruits and 10 3-star commits. Meanwhile Tenn has 1 5-star, 16 4-star, and 9 3-star. Also USC has 4 5-star, 9 4-star, 5 3-star. I noticed Arizona in the Top 25. Mike Stoops is doing what he needs to apparently. Meanwhile the Callahan hire that most(including me) lambasted may be paying off as he's recruiting like mad.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 "Kids, if you want to play for a school with a boring coach or a coach that people like, then go to other schools. If you want to play for a school whose coach was lambasted by NFL teams, GO TO NEBRASKA!"
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Then again USC might as well be ranked high b/c they're basically just loading up for future seasons and not next season since they have basically the whole national championship team back. USC is in the perfect position to let these guys learn from veterans and get used to being on campus and being on a major team. Hell I wish my team were in their position. But we're currently rebuilding an entire team and coming off 2 embarassing title losses in a row.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Some Notre Dame fans are claiming the Irish poor recruiting class is cause Weiss wasn't there to recruit players. I'm sorry, but if a coach that just designed an offensive scheme that rolled through the best defense in the NFL and is now coaching the offense of the AFC champions in the Super Bowl doesn't apply to you then you have to be a moron. Kids don't want to play for Notre Dame period. The players don't go to the NFL and the academic standards are a nightmare.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Thank God Perilloux didn't go to UT. The guy seems like a fucking nutcase.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Aren't fans at UT saying "Well he wasn't that good anyways. We didn't really want him!" ??? At least that's what I heard on the radio.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted February 3, 2005 No. He's good, but his piss poor attitude and such really didn't want him to go to UT anyway. I would have loved to get Fred Rouse, though.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2005 That's what fans of every team do every year when they lose a commit.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted February 3, 2005 No. I'm not going to sweat a kid that basically played University of Texas (which is what a lot of these kids do anyway that is just classless) and already shows signs of being a cancer on the team. "Jamarcus Russell struggled last year and Matt Flynn is definetely not a better QB than me." Looks like he's already starting trouble with his OWN teammates at LSU and his only interest was starting. Period. And, let's not forget: http://www.ryan11.com/
Jorge Gorgeous 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2005 That's what fans of every team do every year when they lose a commit. Yeah, but Periloouoiloououzouzouoiou9uxxxxioioxu detractors may be right, the feeling is that the kid is coming out of high school a prima donna, like, moreso than normal. I don't particularly buy into it, but whatever.
