Guest Coffey Report post Posted February 9, 2005 Definitely Hulk Hogan. I think that "Cowboy" Bob Orton & The Iron Shiek are good picks too. I'm sure Randy Orton and Muhammed Hussan will induct them. "Mr. Wonderful" is another solid pick. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has to be in there. So should Bret Hart, but maybe not this early. If they need a celebrity pick again, I'd be happy with Mr. T. How long until Austin can go in? The Road Warriors definitely need in too. They'd probably refer to them as the Legion of Doom though. Also: Steiner Bros. Sure, seperately Barry Darsow and Bill Eadie have no right being inducted, but together you could make a hell of a case. He was one half of the British Bulldogs, one of the greatest tag teams in WWF history. Then there's the fact that he was one of the best pure wrestlers ever. He deserves the spot. IWD 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2005 Make no doubt about it, Dynamite Kid deserves to be there. The British Bulldogs were the number one tag team in the WWF for a substantial amount of time, main eventing several large shows for them. Dynamite was also the Junior Heavyweight Champion, is heavily referenced on WWE TV today, is still legendary in Japan, and was one of the figureheads behind Stampede Wrestling. Cheers. On a side note, i have a feeling that the fact everyone inducted so far this year is not exactly a big name is due to the fact Hogan is expected to be inducted and they want to concentrate hugely on Hogan's induction with the others as afterthoughts. I wouldn't doubt it, it's not like he doesn't deserve it for his legendary IC Title run. But the Dynamite Kid: great wrestler, no doubt about it. But besides his supposedly godlike workrate, what else does he have to offer? What are his career highlights, aside from 1) being the *less popular half* of a good tag team 2) his great Tiger Mask match at MSG for the Junior title? Let's face it, Stampede was a relatively obscure promotion, despite the pedigree of athletes that got their start there. While the Harts, Benoit, Storm, Allen Coage, et al. began wrestling there they didn't become household names until after they left there. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the rationale applied for the WWE HOF is based on the impact a Superstar had in - regional territories (for Superstars of the pre-JCP era) or -the big companies (for Superstars after ~1984). IMO, the Dynamite Kid did not do enough in any major promotion to warrant induction into the HOF. I think there's almost a mythic aura around this guy that is largely due to the 'smart mark' love of workrate. I'd wait for Benoit to retire; he is far, far more deserving of the HOF than the Dynamite Kid and accomplished a hell of a lot more in his career. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It would be nice to get Inoki in there in the future though. I'm sure that a lot of guys say he was one of the best wrestlers, but I feel that too much of his career was out of the North American spotlight, which is really what this HOF is centered on (presumably to make the fans care about the inductees). Otherwise, you'd think Inoki, Tenryu, Dr. Death, or Vader would have already been considered, and not even fans discuss putting those guys in. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

A hell of a lot more than Pete Rose or Greg Valentine. Greg Valentine started Wrestling in the early/Mid 70's. He drew huge in Mid Alantic with Flair as his partner. Then he went single and drew huge $$$ with Wahoo McDaniels, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, Bob Backlund and many other stars of the early 80's. He was US champ (When it was a title that could headline shows), IC title (Ditto), and WWF World Tag Champ. He also held the US Tag Titles and put on LONG psychologically sound matches with many varieties of opponents. His lack of verbal skills held him back in the WWF. Guest Loss Report post Posted February 9, 2005 This is not just a HOF for WWE wrestlers; it's a HOF for all US wrestlers. Vince has even said that when the monopoly happened, they took on and became responsible for preserving the legacy of ALL American wrestling.
