Guest BOOT Report post Posted October 28, 2006 I've played 3 seasons as Newcastle, and am roughly 7 million in debt (not including bank loans that I started with). Poor first season finishing 15th, but I somehow kept my job. Winning the Uefa cup and getting to the FA cup final probably helped. Finished 11th next season and then signed D'alessandro (not sure on the spelling, was on loan at Pompey last season) on a free in the summer. Was pleased with that and looking forward to my 3rd season, but after a 4-1 away win at West Brom on the 1st day I ended up fighting relegation and just finishing 17th. What was even more annoying about this was that I had been offered jobs at Spurs and then Liverpool (champions the previous 2 seasons) before the season started. Both had much bigger transfer budgets (29m for Spurs, as opposed to my 895k) but a bizarre sense of loyalty held me back. Even so, its a fucking great game. TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 Bump. how's everyone getting on?
deancoles 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 2009, just finished 6th in the premier and won the FA cup, got a feeder club in Belgium(Zulte Waregem) so I can finally buy any player regardless of work permit. Best players are Scott Sinclair and Didier Digard, still have a lot of the players I started with, Carey(finally got a Scotland cap at 31),McCombe, McAllister, Skuse, Johnson, Brooker, JMW and Wilson are in my 16 with Scott Murray captain of the reserves until he retires, when he does I'm going to arrange a friendly to be a "testimonial". By 2014, I hope to have all my coaches be City players, Carey, Murray and McAllister are all certs to be coaching by then.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2006 How does it work with work permits? I know they can get a work permit by living there three years - but what's the point in that? Do you send them on a three year loan or something? and what's the point of signing a player only for him to play for you when he's past his best?
deancoles 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2006 On FM it's EU National or having high PA. You just send them on Loan to your club in Belgium/Poland for 3 seasons until they get the 2nd nationality, you can do this with a Spanish club if your willing to wait an extra season. I only send 17-20 year olds there, so when they're back at 20-23 I can either play them or sell for a profit.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2006 Do you do this with a lower league club or a premier club? And since when can you sign a player without having a work permit?
deancoles 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2006 Premier, once you've got an Enlgish and Scottish/Irish you should get one for Work Permits. Clubs have been doing it for years. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...utd/3460295.stm Arsenal are doing it with Mexican Carlos Vela by sending him to Spain until he gets his Permit. Liverpool did it with Gonzalez last year, they let him stay in Spain until he got a Spanish passport.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 I've been playing as Spurs, having rebuilt the squad to have only English players (racism~!), and won the Premiership quite handily. Got bored of that so started playing as Moor Green in Conference North. I like that as a Premiership boss, if you complain about the referee you get into trouble, but when I complained about the ref as Moor Green boss the message back was "the FA have surprisingly remained silent, etc". TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2006 I've noticed that when the FA give you hell, its because the referee was in the right, but when the ref gets it wrong and you complain, they stay silent, as they know they are in the wrong.

deancoles 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2006 Mido retired aged 27 in my game after being a free agent for 6 months, only reason I didn't sign him was because he refused to take a 2 week trial.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 Why didn't you just snap him up? I've never seen the sense in trials, because they can't play in competitive games, can they?
deancoles 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 His stats had dropped while a free agent and I wanted to see what 2 weeks training and a few friendlies would do, just surprising he'd retire while about 10 clubs were looking at him. Trials are essential for me, every time a feeder club gets new youths I take them on trial with a chance of a transfer based on my own opinion of matches and training(never trust your coaches on FM)

k thx 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 No, that would be amazing. Does it flag up to say about it?
deancoles 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 "You won't get a news item apart from the usual youth promotion news. It should be obvious as he will have your surname, your nationality and have you as a prefered person." From one of the SI Games staff on their boards, it's something that's "Very Rare"

TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 I'll just assume evry kid with the surname Smith is my son... Yeah, as a Taylor, it's hard to spot. Enter youself as John Bocampovic. Odds are you'll notice it might just be your son.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 I usually have such manager names as Cunty McSandwich, so will be fairly easy to look out for... Just patched my game and haven't noticed a huge amount so far...

Sideburnious 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2007 *Sigh* Looks like i'll still be sticking with my FM2006 for the time being. The new game looks really sweet though.
Guest Report post Posted July 28, 2007 Looks like I'm going to have to order it. The pitch size is a pretty big part in that. I'd love to play as Barca (and honestly, would love to play as them any time with their new pickups) on their gigantic pitch. Would fit their brand of football perfectly. Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2007 Aye, have to admit the new features seem really cool. Not sure on the new layout and presentation of the product itself though, I'm fond of the old 'just beyond being a spreadsheet' look.
