Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 15, 2005 I've had DSL since about mid-December or so, and haven't had any problems really, except for this one glaring thing. Every once in a while, for no particular reason it would seem, the computer I'm using seems to forget I have an internet connection. What happens is I'll click on a link and the status bar at the bottom would say "Looking for site: launchmodem" and occasionally it will pop up a window asking me what program I would like to use to open up the file "application/octet-stream" or something like that. The only surefire way I've been able to fix this problem has been to turn off the computer and do a power cycle on the modem (that is, disconnecting all the cables from it for about 30 seconds, including the power cable, then plugging them back in) and turning my computer back on. My Yahoo! messenger and AIM also seem to go haywire when this happens, and the Launchcast thing in the Yahoo messenger gets replaced with a blank white segment saying something along the lines of "LAUNCH: MIME" with a bunch of technical gibberish I can't seem to remember at the moment. Anyone know why this is happening and how I could go about fixing it permanently?

Spicy McHaggis 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2005 I installed my SBC DSL on Tuesday, and I've noticed a few problems as well. Today my computer is incredibly slow....the mouse pointer pauses all the time, and every time I click a link the computer freezes for a good minute or so before anything even registers. I thought maybe the firewall software might be the problem but I'm not sure.......
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 18, 2005 OK, yeah your problems have nothing to do with mine, no offense. I mean it's odd this is the only thing that's not working quite right and it didn't happen on my old computer so it's strange.
