Justice Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Jefferson's own interpretation is taken with so much credence because, well, he wrote the damn thing. Jefferson wrote the letter, but the 1st Amendment was not written by him. Sorry, mental block. *smacks self*
Jobber of the Week Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 On topic: This aired on the local religious channel. I watched about half of it, although the topic wasn't my favorite and I try to avoid the station because I know the owner is a sonnufabitch. It was an okay documentary, really, but the whole point was an attempt at "Religious people, get to the polls!" Also, I've heard from multiple people that George isn't the hardcore prayin' type that his image and "reborn" status suggested, but I think since 9/11 he's been hitting the Jesus exceptionally hard.
BUTT Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 "A towheaded child actor bathed in the golden light of an off-camera halo re-enacts the young George comforting his mom after the death of his sister; it's a parable anticipating the future president's miraculous ability to comfort us all after 9/11." "As for the actual president, he is shown with a flag for a backdrop in a split-screen tableau with Jesus. The message isn't subtle: they were separated at birth." I must see this movie.
Guest CronoT Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Triumph the Insult Comic Dog: I must see this movie. To poop on!

Can one of the Christians on this board remind the rest of us what the penalty for blaphsemy is?
Guest BDC Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Eternity of being decapitated by a demon as you walked in a circle... ...well, that's what Dante said.
