During the Savage vs Flair match I thought I saw Shane as one of the guys who tried to stop Elizabeth from going to the ring and as one of the guys in suits who tried to break up the fight after the match. Is this true and was Shane one of the agents that did this often.......kind of like Arn Anderson and Finley?

Yeah, Shane was one of the suits at WM VIII. As far as him doing that often and at other times; I have no idea.

i remember him in the middle of the Austin-Tyson fight on RAW too, before he became an on-screen character.

This could be answered simply: How old was he in 1993? He could've been away/being more preocupied getting his degree in whatever (Accounting?) instead of working backstage.

He was an outside referee for Survivor Series 1988, 89, Rumble Match 90 & 91 (you can see him quite clearly during the Piper/Brown brawl in 1990 and Martel standing on the apron in 1991).

Shane was born in 1970 so he was 22-23 in 1993 and yes, he is on screen on WM8 and I think another event from that time as well.

Vince liked to have Shane be involved on screen when he was younger in order for him to:

 

a) gain experience in front of the camera and

b) gain the respect of the wrestlers

 

I don't know where I heard that (Meltzer maybe) but that's the reason why you see him in old videos.

I remember reading a quote from Shane in a WM program about how he reffed the first match at a Mania and was amazed at the energy of the crowd. It was probably a dark match.

WrestleMania VIII was '92, not '93. Shane would have been 22 as he was born in January '70.

I've never head anything about Stephanie being a CotN. Her first appearance of note was years later.

I have the incident on tape (the Kama destroying Goth-rat) and it looks nothing like Shane McMahon. Either the makeup crew went through hell to make Shane look uncrecognizable, or they hired a skinny guy with short black hair.
