Guest Deadbolt Report post Posted February 18, 2005 I've seen a few matches from ROH's new look, and i must say wtf has happened. I've seen Night of thunder 1 and i must say it was so bright it was stupid, it was so light for when the lights went out in Punk's match you could still see them. Is the split with RF video that has caused this, if so its a shame, the tapes were starting to be amazing quality, i loved it, brilliant quality like that makes ROH look better and attracks more people. Anyone know whats going on?
Guest OSIcon Report post Posted February 18, 2005 Personally, the only shows I've had a problem with quality wise have been the 6/12 Dayton show (the lenses were dirty the whole show), 8/7 at the Ramada, and 10/2 at the Philly Armory (the lights created a yellowish tint to everything). Otherwise, I haven't even thought twice about the production in any of the other shows. I don't remember having any qualms with WOT Night 1, but my guess would be that it was the building the caused it to be "too light" during Punk's entrance. The building they used that night was a lot like the Rexples in that different activities were going on in places adjacent to the area where the show was held. The lights were obviously on in those areas causing for there to be extra light coming in to the area in addition to the ROH lights.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2005 The only real problem I have with ROH tapes isn't the lighting, but that they set almost every building up to look exactly the same.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2005 The lighting does seem off to me a lot of times, it looks like they just haven't adjusted their cameras correctly for brightness and white-balance. Even worse, for me, is the crappy audio for their commentary: it always sounds garbled and distorted, really comes across as amateur hour in terms of production values. Guest Contentious C Report post Posted February 18, 2005 They do light their shows very darkly. As for WoT Night 1, they were probably adjusting for the fact that the lights went out during Punk/Aries. For as much as they probably spend on lighting rigs, it cocks up the way their videos look as often as not. I also had a problem with the first half of WoT Night 2 looking like crap, like the transfer was bad or I got a bad tape. I've been shifting to DVD since. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted February 18, 2005 It's not like things were any better production wise under RF. At least under the current ownership it doesn't take months for you to get your order.

Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2005 I order online, and anything ordered on my card is always slow to come through.
Guest Fook_Theta Report post Posted February 19, 2005 From what I've heard they don't even have a guy use a light meter(specific name is escaping me) to set up the lighting or camera properally. This is one of RoH's downsides, and it is a minor one as it relates to the actual product. Selling the product obviously is a different manner.
