Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2005 Ah man. I know Coles is a better reciever than Santana, and Santana will demand more money that what the Jets will offer next year, but Santana is a huge fan favorite, and Coles left us high and dry. I don't know, it will probably improve us, but I don't want to see it happen. I would hate to see Santana go.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 26, 2005 By the way, for anyone wondering, Moss will wear #18 in Oakland, the number he wore throughout college and during the preseason his rookie year.

USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2005 Wow, that's an interesting trade. The Jets can draft Heath Miller to replace Becht, maybe a WR in the second round, and they'll have a solid passing offense. And yeah, no one would trade Ed Reed and a pick for any one player, cept for maybe Peyton Manning. Besides, the Ravens and Falcons draft picks are far too low, in the 20s? They'd have to package someone very good to make the trade worth it. I doubt it. I think teams are more high on Ed Reed than Peyton Manning.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted February 26, 2005 Charles Woodson signed a $10.5 million tender as Oakland's franchise player. A trade should follow quickly. The Raiders are now way over the salary cap and will move Woodson to an unnamed team. ''The actions of agent Carl Poston and Charles Woodson tell us that they must have reached a longterm deal with a team and we expect a trade very soon,'' the Raiders said in a statement. Well the Randy Moss deal isn't official yet so could it be Charles Woodson, that LBer, and a 1st rounder for Randy Moss? Woodson has made himself enemies in the Oakland franchise so it wouldn't be surprising. At the same time it would fix Minn's defense and knock some more cap space off for Oakland which they desperately need to do. Guess we'll find out next week. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2005 Possibly. Although, I don't think McCombs wants to take on such a big contract. Looking at the projected cap numbers. Could Woodson be headed to Dallas? They have the cap room, and have 2 first round picks this year.

Seriously, I could see Woodson go to Dallas if Parcells fails in getting Ty Law, but who exactly would they give up for Woodson? I hope not Roy Williams. They wouldn't be that stupid, a younger CB with more upside and had just as good a year last year-- wait a minute, this is the CB Roy Williams right, and not the WR? Roy Williams has a better attitude than Woodson, is younger, already considered one of the best FS today, so why the fuck would Dallas trade him away for a headcase of a CB? USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2005 I think you should read the whole page. I didn't claim that Williams/Woodson was going to happen. I merely said I hoped Dallas wasn't stupid enough to give up Williams should Dallas and Oakland talk about a trade. The point of me mentioning that was because some teams ARE stupid enough to do that kind of thing (see Jets and Redskins with Coles/Moss).
Sass 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 The Moss deal is complete: ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -- Randy Moss officially joined the Raiders on Wednesday, when Oakland completed a trade with the Minnesota Vikings for the star receiver. Moss was scheduled to be formally introduced by his new team in an afternoon news conference, Raiders senior administrator Artie Gigantino said. The Raiders were working to restructure his base salary of $7.5 million for next season into a more cap-friendly signing bonus to be prorated over future years. The Vikings receive linebacker Napoleon Harris, the No. 7 pick in April's NFL draft and a late-round pick in the swap, which was completed a week ago but couldn't be made official until Wednesday. Oakland also was in serious talks with free-agent running back LaMont Jordan, whose addition also could be announced. Jordan spent his first four season with the New York Jets. The 28-year-old Moss will provide a huge upgrade to an offense determined to return to the high-powered vertical passing game of years past so preferred by owner Al Davis. It was their proficient passing attack that led the Raiders to the 2002 Super Bowl, won 48-21 by Tampa Bay. Quarterback Kerry Collins couldn't be happier with the acquisition. ``If he's not the best, he's certainly one of the best,'' Collins said. ``You can make a strong argument. Everybody has their own opinions. But ask any quarterback around the league which receiver they'd want, and I think most would say Randy Moss.'' Moss spent much of last season limited by a hamstring injury and didn't reach 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his seven-year career. He finished with 49 catches for 767 yards and 13 touchdowns. He joins Jerry Porter in a talented young receiving corps. Porter led the Raiders with 64 catches for 998 yards and nine touchdowns, falling just short of his first 1,000-yard season. His receptions were a career high, and he scored three touchdowns in a game twice. ``We've got to check our egos, and the ball has to be distributed in a way to make everybody happy,'' said Porter, who re-signed with the team for five years and close to $20 million last week. Several of Moss' new teammates have said they aren't worried about his sometimes controversial antics over the years. Moss was fined $10,000 for pretending to pull down his pants and moon the Green Bay crowd during Minnesota's playoff win and also drew criticism for leaving the field with 2 seconds left in a regular-season loss against Washington. Other transgressions included bumping a traffic control officer with his car in 2002, verbally abusing corporate sponsors on a team bus in 2001 and squirting an official with a water bottle in 1999, in addition to his infamous ``I play when I want to play'' comments.
