Bored 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 So the 30 day, 30 teams idea already killed? Anyways I'm assuming he was planning on going in reverse order of record last year so the Royals were the second shittiest team in baseball last year. Over/under on number of STDs Jose Lima gives to Kansas City women this year?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 Alphabetical, but it doesn't matter much.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted March 2, 2005 If they can keep all their young players they have a bright future ahead of them. David DeJesus John Buck Mark Teahan Mike Wood Runelevys Hernandez Zach Greinke They just need to stay away from what they tried last year which was the mix in over the hill All Stars to try and speed up the process of contending. Let the young guys develop. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Mike Sweeney gone by the deadline to a team in need of a 1B/DH.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted March 2, 2005 They also have al's favorite career minor leaguer; Calvin Pickering!
Styles 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 I was going to say, alphabetical makes the most sense, but then again its going to get awfully cluttered either way with 30 threads on different teams. Maybe we should contain it to one thread? Anyway, here is the projected lineup and rotation: 1. David DeJesus CF 2. Angel Berroa SS 3. Mike Sweeney 1B 4. Ken Harvey DH 5. Matt Stairs LF 6. Terrence Long RF 7. Chris Truby 3B 8. John Buck C 9. Ruben Gotay 2B 1. Z. Greinke 2. B. J. Anderson 3. J. Lima 4. R. Hernandez 5. J. Gobble Boy, this is just a BAD team. It in all honestly looks more like a AAA roster or something. I can't believe 2 seasons and a Beltran ago they nearly made the playoffs. Yeah, I don't have much to say about the Royals. Easy pick for 5th place.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 2, 2005 1 simple word: ouch. They have a lot of young players I have no idea about, but if they can develope something without pulling a Yankees and blowing all their rookies from a trade for an over-paid has-been, then maybe in a few years they can be contenders for the AL Central. Easy pick for 5th Place, unless Chicago or Clevland becomes home to the injured list. It's not as if the Central division has always been that strong, though. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 They also have al's favorite career minor leaguer; Calvin Pickering! Baseball Prospectus projects Calvin Pickering as the fourth best player in the AL Central, behind Johan Santana, Travis Hafner, and Carlos Guillen. That's quite lofty. I don't know how good Pickering is, but he deserves an honest chance.
Bored 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 I think the projections out there for Pickering are a bit ridiculous. Hell Larry Sutton tore up the PCL last year as well. It'll be hard for him to beat out All-Star Ken Harvey for an everyday job. At least it will be hard in the mind of Tony Pena.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 1. David DeJesus CF - .762 OPS in 413 PA last year 2. Angel Berroa SS - .693 OPS in 554 PA 3. Mike Sweeney 1B - .851 OPS in 452 PA 4. Ken Harvey DH - .759 OPS in 494 PA 5. Matt Stairs LF - .796 OPS in 496 PA 6. Terrence Long RF - .755 OPS in 313 PA 7. Chris Truby 3B 8. John Buck C - .704 OPS in 258 PA 9. Ruben Gotay 2B - .690 OPS in 166 PA If Buck and Gotay can get their OPS' higher than the Royals could be decent offensively. Here's hoping Berroa had an off year because he really needs to step it up in that department if it wasn't. Ken Harvey could also step it up slightly and try and get around Mike Sweeney's level. Note: Calvin Pickering had an .838 OPS in 142 PA last season. 1. Z. Greinke - 112 ERA+ (3.97) in 145 IP. 2. B. J. Anderson - 79 ERA+ (5.64) in 166 IP 3. J. Lima - 102 ERA+ (4.07) in 170.3 IP 4. R. Hernandez - 110 ERA+ (4.61) in 91.7 IP in 2003 5. J. Gobble - 83 ERA+ (5.35) in 148 IP If Gobble and Brian Anderson can get their ERA's lower, the Royals could sport a decent rotation. Jeremy Affeldt could also find a way into the rotation after posting a 129 ERA+ in 2003(18 starts in 36 appearances).
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted March 2, 2005 Berroa was injured to start the year last season. He came back early from it too, so he wasn't completely healthy all last season.

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 The team has a shot At what? A .500 record? A division title? The Central isn't great, but it's going to be hard for K.C. not to finish in last place.
