Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 22, 2005 Dawson was also a CF, in the early years of his career Either way, I'll need either a LF or CF since I'll have a gap to fill in the OF. And damn me for not being around for the first AIM chat draft to not pick a second basemen.

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2005 How many players on the active roster, how many of those have to pitchers. when do we start drafting 2 players each time, and when do we pick 3 each time?
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 22, 2005 I thik Round 15 we start doing 2 at a time, then after Round 20, 3 at a time (or that would make sense I guess) and at least 10 pitchers.

Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2005 This is how the ABERDEEN IRONBIRDS~! roster is shaping up: C- Elston Howard 1B- Todd Helton 2B- Bobby Grich SS- Cal Ripken Jr. 3B- Robin Ventura LF- Frank Robinson CF- Lou Brock RF- George H. Ruth SP- Jim Palmer SP- Bert Blyleven SP- Mike Mussina SP- Carl Hubbell CL- Trevor Hoffman I'll probably get another starter... unless I can use Ruth there every fifth day, since he was a pretty fine pitcher in his day. But figuring I can't, I want another starter, and then it's on to the bullpen and the bench. And first place, bichets.
The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2005 Since my whole strategy has been revolving around how statistics will be translated between eras, I have a feeling that my team is either going to be pretty decent...or just implode terribly. C - Johnny Bench 1B - Jeff Bagwell 2B - Joe Morgan SS - Robin Yount 3B - Ron Santo LF - Jim Edmonds CF - Mickey Mantle RF - Bobby Abreu SP - Curt Schilling SP - "Bullet" Joe Rogan SP - John Smoltz SP - Red Ruffing SP - CL - I also realize I haven't picked out a park yet. Hmmmmm.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2005 The New York Highlanders: C- Joe Torre 1B - Jim Thome 2B - Jackie Robinson SS - Derek Jeter 3B - Ray Dandridge LF - CF - Joe DiMaggio RF - Vladimir Guerrero SP - Addie Joss SP - John Ward SP - Jimmy Key SP - Orel Hershiser UTIL - Martin Dihigo - this guy played all NINE positions, so I've got some wiggle room with him
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2005 I switched over to an era-adjusted database, so players' abilities will be more fairly rated. As for Dihigo, he will mostly take the form of an outfielder/pitcher. Think Babe Ruth 1919 with less power.
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 22, 2005 Hey Al, how are we going to deal with converting starting pitchers to long relievers?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2005 Hey Al, how are we going to deal with converting starting pitchers to long relievers? That's no problem. OOTP's setup screen has slots for up to five starters, a spot starter/long reliever, a mop-up man, two set up men, a closer, and the rest of your 'pen. I just tell the program to place the pitcher in the bullpen, and it is set.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2005 I play OOTP6, and I'm wondering how specific you'll let us get with our coaching? I'll probably want to adjust the individual hit&run and base stealing and things of that nature, but I realize that with 20 teams you've already got your hands full. I'll definitely be interested in the exported file once everything is in place.

If anyone has specific requests on what they'd like to adjust, I will take care of that. Not at the moment, but I will bring that up later on before I start the sim. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 Are we having another Aim chat, next week? Can we do things like double switches? A question about Harry Heilmann. He was mostly a OF, and probably his best year 1928, he only played 12 games at 1st. Is that enough games, or do you have to use a season he played 1st base more? EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 Are we having another Aim chat, next week? I imagine so. We've had enormous success with them thus far. I'll get back to you guys with a date. Can we do things like double switches? The sim will handle direct managerial manuevers, and it does support double switches. A question about Harry Heilmann. He was mostly a OF, and probably his best year 1928, he only played 12 games at 1st. Is that enough games, or do you have to use a season he played 1st base more? I inputed Heilmann, and he is eligible at first base. Realistically, you can use any player at any defensive position, as long as you can handle the hit in defense. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 That's cool. I plan on putting in a defensive replacement for Heilmann alot. In more quirky news. Russ Hodges has been named the play by play man of the Rochester Hop Bitters.

Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 Al, what about using Ruth in my rotation, in addition to the everyday lineup? Would the sim have him become tired and shitty? Also, I want to use Oriole Park at Camden Yards as my home stadium.
MARTYEWR 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 Al, what about using Ruth in my rotation, in addition to the everyday lineup? Would the sim have him become tired and shitty? Also, I want to use Oriole Park at Camden Yards as my home stadium. If anything, if Ruth's in the rotation, on the days he doesn't pitch and plays right field, he should at least have trouble hitting the cut-off man.
