Madden 2006

Recommended Posts

Tonight while at work, this kid walks into my store and asks me, "Hey can I pre-order Madden 2006?" I look up at him and tell him no. He tells me "oh ok, well the game store in the mall is." I tell him thats fine but its stupid cause nothing has been annouced for the game." Then I went back to reading my magazine. Then about a hour later another guy walks in and asks me the same thing. I tell him "no cause the game hasn't even been annouced yet." A few minutes after he leaves, I get curious and check my computer. I type in Madden 2006 and it popped up. So at the moment stores are letting people pre-order (at gamecrazy) Madden 2006. So go out and be the first one to tell people you pre-ordered (at gamecrazy) Madden 2006 (at gamecrazy) so they call be jealous and envy you.

The game's been up for pre-order for like a month now I believe...(In Gamestop at least). Maybe a little less, but I know for sure it's been a few weeks.

I thought 05 was the last Madden?

You can pre-order just about anything really far in advance as long as the game stores are fairly certain a game exists and it has a MSRP.

I remember pre-ordering Metroid Prime perhaps 8 mo. in advance.

Get ready to pay $70 for it.

According to a source at the event, Sega representatives stated that the company's games for the next generation of consoles would enter the market with a suggested retail price of $59.99 and speculated that launch titles from EA Sports would retail for as much as $69.99.

If they're gonna charge that much they better add a shitload of new features as well as improve on the old ones. People won't settle paying that much for a game with updated rosters and some fluff like that radio show they did this year.

But, that's for the next generation of consoles.

That actually, IMO should be expected. I mean, they'll still be games for 50$ for PS2 and Xbox. So shouldn't PS3 and Xbox2 games cost more?

Didn't at one time..PS and N64 games cost around 60, 70$? :/

Not PS1. N64 might have --- but I don't remember any hitting that price range.

Atari, NES, SNES and Sega stuff used to average $60-$80 back before the CD hit.

I don't think any game should be over $40 to begin with. Madden got it's ass kicked by Sega and ESPN this year, and Madden dropped to $30 quicker this year than any other. I enjoy the Madden games, but like having a choice. I don't think I'll pick up the next one.

Unless a game is on some kind of super cart there is no need to ever charge over $50 for it. I'll just stop buying sports games. I imagine other people will follow that lead. Only question is do the people that keep buying them for $10-20 more even out or end up giving them more of a profit with the other group boycotting them.

Yeah apprently what Gamestop has been dong is they take a empty case, put a picture of the local teams emblem and slide that picture onto the cover of the case and put Pre-order Madden 06. I know they put the Raiders and 49ers on two different cases out here in the bay area.

Are you kidding? For Madden, they'll pay.

I wish, but this is news to me. Didn't Madden still outsell them anyway by a huge margin?

I remember N64 games going for $54-64 at Toys R Us back when N64 came out.

I already never pay full price for games as it is (find games on sale, like Circuit City's $5 Bonanzas or online places that sell games cheaply..). The last game I paid full price for was Wind Waker, and that was because I wanted the bonus disc, but I ended up working a deal on it to where I got a waverbird in the same order for $10.

So why the hell is Sega going to charge $60 for an NFL game without an NFL license?

Fuck em. I think I'll be going back to Madden..

I think they meant Sega games...not, a Sega NFL game.

Oops, that's what I get for not clicking the link and reading the article itself..

That has to do with what the prices will be for next-gen consoles, not what next year's games will be.

The rest of the article..

It is understandable why Sega would mention EA Sports as Electronic Arts has signed an exclusive deal with the NFL taking the NFL license away from Take-Two and Sega.

Regardless if the $70 price tag is speculation or not, one thing is for sure -- if you want to play a licensed football game on the Xbox 2, you'll pay whatever EA decides you'll pay.

Yup. I don't mind Madden though, and there are times in ESPN I wish I had some features that Madden does have. The franchise mode is much more fun, the whole Sportscenter and presentation deal REALLY gets old fast in NFL2k5... But fuck is it ever fun to play online. I can't stop playing it online.

Screw that.

Hell will freeze over before I spend over 55 bucks for a video game.

If I want to play football that bad, I'll go outside and play. I save 60 bucks and don't have to worry about load times. And until an NFL game comes out with an expansion mode, I'll be just happy with my 20 dollar NFL 2k5.

I didn't like Madden when I was buying it and I'm not buying it when it's the only game standing.

EASPORTS can kiss my hairy backside.
