iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 Nah. I have Arizona taking Utah State but losing to LSU. I also have Texas Tech shocking Gonzaga. Oh and just for Igg I have Wazzu taking out GT in the Sweet 16. Hey dipshit, I go to Wazzu, and we didn't even make the NIT. That's like saying I have Oklahoma losing to Illinois in the Elite 8. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 Too bad I saw Utah State last night in person and they won't hold Arizona's jock. I've seen Arizona in person. Trust me, there's not that much to hold. All a team has to do is play solid defense, and the Wildcats will get frustrated and collapse. I think Utah State's more than capable.

I thought that was how you abbreviated Washington........but I still have Washington taking GT out of it in the Sweet 16. And speaking of upsets I think that NCState can pull the shocker on UConn in the second round. Dick Vitale announced his final four and what a shocker....he has 3 ACC teams in the Final Four. Crimson Platypus 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 Dick Vitale announced his final four and what a shocker....he has 3 ACC teams in the Final Four. I watched about 25 seconds of the ACC Championship game the other day, saw JJ Reddick hit a three and heard Vitale blew a gasket, had to turn the channel. He's a joke, almost a parody of himself, it's really pathetic. I hope that no one takes him seriously anymore.

He's a joke, almost a parody of himself, it's really pathetic. I hope that no one takes him seriously anymore. He's not that bad. I watched the whole game, and he kept talking about Duke got too tentative, and Georgia Tech was playing such great defense. Then, he was absolutely all over the refs when Redick got that foul call, so I'd say the "Duke bias" isn't really strong enough to worry about. As for the Final Four, if you took a poll of the country to see who was going to be in the Final Four, Duke, Carolina, and Wake would all be solid favorites, so three ACC teams isn't all that unreasonable. Personally, I think Wake will lose to Gonzaga, but I still see three ACC teams making it too. Kansas won't make it without Langford, Oklahoma State's stuck in Illinois's bracket, Oklahoma's a little too young, UConn doesn't have the talent to keep up with Carolina, and Kentucky and Washington both have choke written all over them. The only teams I can really see keeping the ACC out are Syracuse, Pittsburgh (yes at a 9 seed), and Gonzaga.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 Everyone is on Ga Tech's nuts here, but I have them as a 5/12 upset pick for GW. GW has beaten Michigan St. and Maryland this year (keep in mind MD beat Ga Tech) so I think it can happen. Besides, it would help U of L out considerably. My FF picks: Illinois, U of L, UNC, and Oklahoma. Illinois is someone that would have to seriously screw up not to get there. My U of L pick is more of a heart than head pick, but if we can get past the 2nd round it's money from there (I have Pitt beating Washington and someone like WVU or Gonzaga will take Wake). UNC just really doesn't have anyone in their bracket that I thought posed a real serious threat. And Dama will no doubt like my OU pick, but really the bracket just shapes up well for them somehow. I figure if Michigan St. can get past Cuse they will pay Duke back for that close loss this year, and UK is done at this point and the curse of CUSA will continue to haunt them with Cincy. OU wins the region by default, haha. Incidentally Iggy, justify U of L getting a 4 seed. I wanna hear your bullshit on this. There is NOTHING that justifies us being so low. Top 5 in both polls now, #8 in the Sagarin I think, and 11 or 12 in the final RPI. We got fucked and everyone knows it.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 I'm disagreeing with you iggy. Vitale spent most of the year pimping JJ Redick for National Player of the Year and for Kryzewzski to be named the 2008 Olympic coach. His Duke bias was probably the worst during the 2001-2002 season when he kept declaring Jason Williams and Chris Duhon "the best backcourt in America." *Funny note, after Maryland won the national title that year and Gary Williams was being interviewed by the ESPN crew, Vitale was wearing the Maryland National Champions hat. This led to Gary Williams saying to him "Are you going to take off your Duke hat now?"*
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 I actually have Syracuse beating OU in the Elite 8. I dunno why but I just like this Syracuse club. I have them losing to OSU in the National Title game though. And I think Langford will be back for the tournament. Maybe not the first round game which they can easily win without him. I think it's a toss-up between KU and UNC to come out of that bracket to the Final Four.

Crimson Platypus 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2005 cabbageboy, MSU will not beat 'Cuse. Hakim Warrick is too tough inside, and MSU has a hard time guarding the three point line for some reason, which leaves McNamara open from there. Basically their strong points match up very well with State's weaknesses. As much as it pains me to say it, I just don't see MSU winning two games this year (if they win one). Top 5 in both polls now, #8 in the Sagarin I think, and 11 or 12 in the final RPI. We got fucked and everyone knows it. Well, the only rankings I care about are my own, and I didn't have those done yet, so I wasn't quite sure where Louisville belonged. On further review, I'd actually give them the last 3 seed by a spot over Oklahoma, due to Oklahoma not getting the job done on a neutral court against Texas Tech. However, I can totally see why the committee would do that. Their resume is paper thin, with their only noteworthy wins being: at Florida, at Cincinnatti, Cincinnatti, at Stanford, and Charlotte. The media's been overrating them all year because their a name-vaule school that hasn't lost in a while. However, without the big wins, it's hard to reward a team with a protected seed. I think these kind of announcements should work on a progressive scale, where every time someone does this, they get banned for longer than the person who did it before. I think that when Utah State beats Arizona, he should be banned for at least two or three days longer than Damaramu was banned. And if he gets a sidekick to relay secret messages to the board, then they should both be banned for life.
