Looking to get a cheap mini Dv camcorder

Recommended Posts

So I am looking on....shit, I already said it in the title...no need to repeat myself.

I already know to hit Best buy for their open box deals, so that is cool, but i am looking for a bigger discount. Right now I am down to 198 for a canon mini dv camcorder, but that is just for the camera, so I am actually around 249 for a samsung. Anyone with any suggestions?

Canons are excellent. I got a ZR60 for $300 over a year ago on ebay, brand new in the box. Now, you can probably get a better model for even cheaper. They're nice and small, and the quality is great.

So, I go to Target and they are getting rid of their "display" camcorders (say "display" because unlike other stores, Target keeps their electronics in a glass case, so although they are out of the box, they are still relatively untouched) and they have a Canon ZR85, as is camera for 171.80. So I say, hey, let me check that out, and he rings it up and it comes up at 75.99.

75 dollars and 99 fucking cents.

So I ask for them to make sure it works and it does, so I say hells yeah, wrap that bitch up.

So I leave there with my new camera and go to bestbuy and get a battery for 39.99 but they are out of universal chargers.

So I go to radio Shack and get a universal charger for 14.99 and head home with my brand spanking new camera. Just to note again, I tested the camera after buying the battery to make sure it worked and tried it again at the radioshack to make sure that the charger worked.

So I get home, plug in the charger to charge up the battery and....nothing.

So I try to turn it on with battery power....nothing.

I put the tip in to the charger the wrong way so the wrong polarity was set when I plugged in the camera. So after all that running around (did I mention that I was on public transportation? This entire trip took about 6 hours) and getting a once in a lifetime killer deal on a great camcorder...I fucking broke it.

So now I am looking into ways to fix it, but the repair cost for camcorders are ridiculous, and while I am sure that something like this is a easy fix, I have no real knowledge on the innerworkings of camcorders and don't want to fuck it up anymore (i can fix most shit, like VCR's and Stereos, but I am not sure about this one). So I am just pretty much pissed right now.
