Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 21, 2005 The only people that pull heat duty that I see getting pushed are Tajiri and William Regal, but right now they aren't needed on RAW, except to be the mix-matched tag team of the half-year. The Hurricane and Rosey are garbage (Hurricane is stale as shit, and Rosey sucks), Simon Dean is a stupid, hardly over gimmick, Steven Richards is more injury prone than Billy Kidman, Val Venis' gimmick was never ME material to me and WWE has given up on trying to repackage him. Viscera is PPA, so he doesn't matter. Who else am I missing that pulls Heat duty a lot? Oh, Maven. Maven sucks and everyone here probably agrees.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 from Steveswrestling.com which probably got it somewhere else of course. As we noted yesterday, Marty Janetty has signed with WWE. Janetty will be working with Shawn Michaels on house shows following WrestleMania. The two will once again team to form The Rockers.

Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 21, 2005 This accomplishes one major thing: Keeps Shawn Michaels away from the World Title. Now I don't have to worry about them being jobbed out, unless it's versus main eventers.
Dark Age 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 I've just never viewed these guys as main event caliber...but that's just me...even when they were at their peaks...Jannetty certainly isn't at the level either... You're missing the point though. We're not asking for these guys to be main eventers. I sure don't want to see Hurricane win the World Title tonight on Raw. But give them an important role in the midcard, ala what Marty did last week. They'd be just as over. Then, over time, if you rebuild them, develop their characters, let them have some good matches, etc, then you could consider expanding the push. William Regal could have been a main eventer last summer. It only takes one small feud to turn a character around. It may seem silly thinking about Val Venis as a main eventer, but, like I said, the same could be said of Triple H in 96, Rock in 97, and, more recently, Bradshaw. The only people that pull heat duty that I see getting pushed are Tajiri and William Regal, but right now they aren't needed on RAW, except to be the mix-matched tag team of the half-year. They are needed on Raw, because Raw sucks. There is no midcard - at all - and that is because they're too lazy to use these guys. You realise that Regal and Tajiri are Champions, right? So, you don't need your World Tag Team Champions? The Hurricane and Rosey are garbage (Hurricane is stale as shit, and Rosey sucks) Hurricane is stale because he has no direction. That isn't his fault. If they use him right, he wouldn't be stale. Rosey doesn't suck. He and Helms could be a good tag team IF THEY LET THEM. Simon Dean is a stupid, hardly over gimmick, Not his fault, is it? If you are going to promote these guys for weeks, then do NOTHING with them, then what's the point? Actually develop the guys character, and he might get over. He might not be any good in the ring, but he's different than the usual WWE style wrestler, so let him wrestle to his strengths. He'd get over. Steven Richards is more injury prone than Billy Kidman It's not like it's Stevie's fault. He's not getting injured to his own idiocy, or use of steroids, or whatever. When a bad, green wrestler elbows the fuck out of your face, you're going to get injured. When a terrible, nervous wrestler drops you on your head because he can't perform a simple Electric Chair, you are going to get injured. Val Venis' gimmick was never ME material to me and WWE has given up on trying to repackage him. Then change his gimmick. Not hard, is it? He was doing fine as Morley... and then they dropped it. Stupid. Let him be Chief Morley again, send him to SD and have he and Orlando Jordan battle to be chief of staff for JBL. Nothing special, but it's depth to both guys' character. Oh, Maven. Maven sucks and everyone here probably agrees. Not really. He's not very good, but he tries. He's only been wrestling a few years, and only in WWE. He was really over in 2002. chaosrage 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 How is Jannetty better than them? Are you telling me that Marty Jannetty is better than William Regal and Tajiri? Don't make me laugh. He is not, nor has he ever been. At this moment in time, Val Venis is better than him as well, and maybe Helms. Even Conway. Throw in Richards as well. The fact is, everyone is going off on how good Jannetty is because they got to see him in a strong, 20 minute match. When was the last time those guys were given a chance in that sort of environment? Regal is very boring and I don't think has had one good match since coming into the WWE. Helms isn't that good. Val Venis is average, I've never seen him have a match as good as Angle/Jannetty, much less the best Rockers matches or Marty's matches with Shawn. And I'm going off on Jannetty because I remember how great he used to be and 10 years after the last time I've seen him, it looks like he hasn't lost a step. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 21, 2005 I'm starting to sound like a main eventer who holds people down: Jannetty knows how to work WWE style to his advantage, while the heat people (like Regal) are usually crippled by it. The Hurricane is a high flyer... on RAW. Tajiri is a Cruiserweight... on RAW. Regal has a very unique style that most wrestler don't adapt well to. Maven can't wrestle period. Venis may be an argument, but he gets squashed too much now that it doesn't matter anyway.
Dark Age 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 OK. I've made my points now, and they've all been ignored, so whatever. I know I'm right, anyway, and that's all that matters.

King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Val Venis jumped the shark 6 years ago. Chief Morley jumped the shark after about 3 weeks. Hurricane jumped the shark a good 2 years ago. Rosey never even got the chance to jump the shark. Regal's style doesn't fit with 90% of the roster, despite him being a great character. Tajiri needs to go back to the Cruiser Division, because his Raw run has really damaged him. Simon Dean...entertaining character, capable in the ring, never going to be taken seriously. The smartest thing Stevie could do is get out of his contract and work with ROH on a permanant basis, because he's been killed credibility in the WWE. Jannetty, unfortunatly, will get a better reaction than all of them.

Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Not to sound stupid, but what does "jump the shark" mean?
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2005 Jump the shark is taken from a Happy Days episode where Fonzy went surfing with his leather jacket on....it's from that point that the show started to suck. So when something that was once great starts to suck people pinpoint an exact moment when it jumped the shark. Anyway I am very glad to hear Jannetty is most likely back. Good grief if Shawn tags with him I might start liking Shawn again for the first time since about 1992.

Toxxic 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2005 For the record, if I thought there was a reasonable chance that Hurricane would BEAT Triple H (or whoever else was World Champion at that time) I would gladly pay the £14.99 needed to get a Pay-Per-View. I'm not talking Holly/Lesnar 10-year blowjob gratuitous title match where the challenger has no chance (or a Triple H/Jericho Wrestlemania match where the challenger's victory is a foregone conclusion either, I'm not asking that much). I'm talking something with a chance. Hurricane is seen to have a chance of winning. Now ideally it wouldn't be Hurricane, it'd be Sugar Shane Helms of some variation thereof. But I would GLADLY watch a Hurricane/HHH feud if - and here's the biggy - IF I thought there was a chance that Hurricane wouldn't get crushed and dropped back to the midcard. Have his as an arrogant prick heel that despite his small size somehow manages to sneak wins over bigger wrestlers. Have him as a plucky small underdog who can actually WRESTLE (as in NOT the old, face Spike Dudley) who stands up the big bullies like Trips and makes their lives difficult. Watch Hurricane chokeslam Tajiri on Smackdown back in the day - you know, when he'd tried it on Show and Kane and it hadn't worked - listen to that pop and tell me he was never over. Listen to the pop when he went for it on Angle and Triple H (separate matches - I know he hit it on one and didn't on the other and I can't remember which, but the crowd still popped like fuck). And Regal rules. It's not that wrestlers can't adapt to his style, it's that WWE wrestler can't adapt to his style. Shove him in ROH with Danielson, Williams, McGuinness, Shelley etc and watch the goodness flow.

Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 22, 2005 I will never order a PPV to see the fucking Hurricane, a guy who barely tips the scale at 200 pounds soaking wet and with a brick in his pants string bean main eventing. While we're at it, let's just give Shannon Moore the SD Title.
