Fair Enough.

Personally, I've never forgiven Brad Pitt for marrying Jennifer Aniston.

She was mine, Brad must pay...

If only Fight Club and 12 monkeys weren't favorite movies of mine would I agree with you.  But if he makes another flick like legends of the fall I am all for his demise

USA NEEDS TO DESTROY GERMANY (only in Soccer of course :D)

Prediction, USA 10, Germany Nine (Nine meaning no, as opposed to the number 9)

The US can win, but so can Germany. I see it as being a very even contest or a blowout by Germany.

On the radio today somebody was talking about it being impossible to cheer for either the Americans or the Germans, they said they would cheer the officials instead.

Belgium put up a good fight and the scoreline flattered Brazil, hopefully England can exploit their defensive failings.

england should nail brazil, their defence is far too strong, and their forwards are too tall and brazil will be destroyed by set plays.  whoever wins that match will go on to win the tournament.  usa has a chance against germany, but they will need to play very well.  look for italy and japan to go through tonight, and from there, who knows!

Its so nice to see Italy lose...and the coach has gotta go. Italy can not play on a one goal lead, and especially when you take out Del Peiro, and put in Torteli.

When Coco was busted open, and having the head wrapped up, thats going to be a fashion trend for a while, if marketed properly

I really enjoyed seeing Italy go out (especially as I shorted out my Italian Ex neighbours electricity about 10 minutes from the end of normal time and he was under the impression that they had won for about an hour).

I am supporting the USA (Lewis plays for Fulham, sometimes).

Think that the winners of England Brazil will win it.

If it's England I'm glad I'm leaving the Country for seven weeks on the 25th, that might just be enough time for it to become bearable again.

definitely, whoever comes out on top in the eng/braz game will absolutely coast in from there, and expect england to win, their defence is too good, and their attacking strength is set plays, which is brazil's primary weakness.  the only question mark is to whether the english defenders and midfielders can keep up with the brazilian mids/strikers.

Peruggia have just sacked the guy who got the winning goal for South Korea, saying that he wasn't grateful to the country paying his wages.

Talk about fucking sore losers. I'm off out to point at Italians and laugh.

Today feels empty without any football.

Too true!

I also agree with you that this country will be unbearable to live in for weeks if England win the world cup, but that's not going to happen because Spain will finally end their international underacheivement and win the world cup.

Then at least I can say that Ireland were knocked out by the world champions.

Geez.

What ever happened to the good old days when people put all their hate on the bad officiating after a loss?

Well, if Serie A doesn't want him (assuming Peruggia is a Serie A team, I'm not familiar with Italian Football clubs) I'm sure somebody in the Bundesliege, Premiership, or any other top-flite league would be pleased to have a striker who can perform in the clutch.

Hell, the MLS could certainly use some more legit international talent. :D

And yes, I'm also going through cup withdrawl for these next couple days until the quarterfinals start up.

I can't help thinking its a bit rich of the Italians to be kicking up such a childish and ungracious fuss about their exit. Not a year passes in the Italian league without match fixing evidence coming to light, dubious officiating rears its ugly head every season during the title run in and often at various other times as well. Its not hard to imagine that some of Trapattoni's past achievements at club level were aided at some point over the years by generous donations from his board to ensure final success. Italian football is rotten to the core at the moment and they have become increasingly defensive about their recent failings at both club & international level, often accusing others of the kind of dishonest misdeeds that in reality exist more in their own country.

Today did feel very empty.

It was the first day, since the World Cup started, without a single match.

Anyway here's my predictions for the Quarter Finals:

England 2

Brazil 1

Germany 2

USA 0

Turkey 1

Senegal 2

Spain 3

South Korea 1

Feel free to criticise.

caboose, those predictions are pretty damn good. and im by no means an italian fan, but watching that match the other night i did get the distinct impression that the ref was being very harsh on the italians, and very lenient on the koreans. but hey, who am i to say it was fixed. and also, the italian reaction to this entire thing has been totally childish and extremely inappropriate. like a pack of spoilt children, especially the peruggia club. ahn was a korean before he joined your team, dickheads.

the same chance they had against mexico (a victory i predicted!). germany have had a bloody easy draw, klose is a hack (5 goals from 5 unmarked headers), and they are coming off a shitty performance against paraguay. usa on the other hand are on a huge high, and have a heap of momentum coming into the match. if the usa are to win, they must score early, like with mexico, or else the germans will just outclass them in the end. so yeah, they have a definite chance of beating germany, though it probably wont happen. but with all the upsets this world cup, who can say???

actually Germany didn't play shit, Paraguay made the game so fuckin boring by booting the ball out of bounds every time they got it. They wanted to wear down Germany but didn't.

That whole thing with Perugia dropping Ahn sucks.

What the fuck is that about?

But it's not the first time its happened.

After World Cup Italia '90, Diego Maradona got victimised by the whole Italian League, after he help Argentina put Italy out of the World Cup Semi Finals.

Those Italians are fucking pricks.

oh well, that game physically put me to sleep, so its all a little hazy anyway :).

perugia dropping ahn does suck, although i heard they were planning on dropping him anyway. although i know that if that situation had occurred here in australia, ahn could probably sue for unfair dismissal (although how likely would an italian court be to find that?). im sure ahn will be able to get a better deal somewhere else now, because he has performed well and elevated himself on the world stage.

That was bullshit. According to Luciano Gauchi Ahn somehow insulted Italian football by scoring against them so by that logic Juventus should get rid of Trezeguet for scoring the golden goal in Euro 2000, I'm sure another Euorpean club will give Ahn a chance and hopefully he'll make Perugia look stupid

i imagine ahn would get slaughtered in england. he seems a bit of a primmadonna to me, so would probably fit right in in spain. i also dont think any english clubs would take him on the basis of his world cup performance, he hasnt been *that* good, and as for chelsea, he is not even close to being in the same league as gudjohnsen (whom i mark for) and hasselbaink. although liverpool have picked up a couple of those senegal players...

I think the whole Senegal side is coming to England! Liverpool have bought El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao. Birmingham have bought Aliou Cisse and theres a few clubs sniffing around Henri Camara, Tony Sylva and Khaliou Fadiga. Can't wait to see how Owen and Diouf work together though

owen and diouf are the exact same player pretty much from what ive seen of diouf (which is the france game and a bit of the sweden game), so i doubt they'd even go together at all. tony sylva has been very impressive though, he has been very consistent all tournament.
