Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted June 22, 2002 im a neutral, but if germany play that fucking boring style against spain (face it, the korean fairy tale is OVER), they will get fucking slaughtered, raul will tear that backline to pieces. <snip>... oh well, so long usa and bring on the brazil-spain final! Looks like the fairy tale isn't over yet. Hooray for Korea! I would laugh my ass off if it was a Korea-Senegal final. This is so the best world cup ever. Hopefully Spain doesn't pull an Italy and whine their asses off though. They seem better than that.
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted June 22, 2002 ¡¡¡NOOOOOOOOO!!! ¡I had my money on Spain! same, 100 buckaroos too Fools we are. I had $50 riding on Spain. I don't follow soccer but I could have sworn I thought Spain was going to win.
Guest Anorak Report post Posted June 22, 2002 There's a massive debate on the radio at the moment about the game being a 'fix' and Spain being cheated. Its an incredibly annoying listen though as the presenters have made their own minds up and are basically mocking or ignoring anyone who doesn't seem to consider it the biggest scandal/disgrace in football history. A quick history of the last 20 years of world cup football throws up a range of incidents which were terribly unjust/unfair/dubious, Argentina's 6-0 win over Peru in 1978 to get to the final on goal difference over Brazil, the 'co-operative' draw between Germany and Austria and the Schumacher assault in 1982, the 'Hand of God' in 1986, all far more contentious than what happened or clear cut than whats being suggested happened today. Personally I think these conspiracy theories are getting way out of hand, bad officiating and inept descisions are part of football, of course its not good enough to have them feature so much on the biggest stage of them all but theres nothing more to it. It was a bit rich of the Italians to cry foul in the first place when they have one of the most corrupt leagues in Europe and went out due to their own negative approach and glaring misses. Spain have a right to be a bit aggrieved but they're clutching at straws to suggest they were the victim of anything other than random bad officiating. I wasn't waiting for the Italians or the Spanish to be gracious in defeat anyway, its not in their nature anyway.
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted June 22, 2002 Nice one Korea, and booo to Spain, them and italy should learn to lose with a bit more class, hope no Korean penalty takers play in Spain. I would love a Korea/ Senegal final, Turkey would be gunned down by Brazil but Senegal could pull off an upset. Unfortunately if anyone is going to end a fairytale it's going to be Germany, but i've been wrong about every other prediction in these finals (apart from Brazil/England and Beckham bbeing shown up as ordinary) so come on Korea. Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted June 22, 2002 *yay* korea win again... im sick of them already, the novelty is over. if either they or senegal are in the final i will be one seriously pissed young man. the world cup is for real teams, nit a bunch of total hacks playing in france and the english first division, AAAARRRGGGH!!!! Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted June 22, 2002 at least senegal is fucking out now. (as you can tell, i *hate* fairytale sports stories). even though turkey are a shit team and will get beaten by brazil (again ), they are a lot better than that pack of hacks from senegal. now we just need germany to fucking kill korea and we will have a watchable germany-brazil final which will result in an easy brazilian win. Guest muzanisa Report post Posted June 22, 2002 I love the fairytale bit. If I thought it was going to be Argentina, Italy, Germany, Brazil every time I wouldn't bother watching. I hope Korea beat Germany, not because I'm anti German, but because they are boring to watch and Korea/Brazil would be a great final. The Scottish Premier league is boring because of the Glasgow hegemony and Korea and Senegal beat the "big teams" to get as far as they have/did. Euro 2004 should be wide open when you can't rule out Ireland, England, Turkey as well as Italy, Spain, Holland et al. If in 2006 there are 32 teams and you can't rule any of them out then that makes for a better finals. On the evidence of this World Cup the USA could have a team of world beaters by then and an African team could have a chance of going all the way.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted June 22, 2002 So who's the favorite to win now? Brasil? I'd like to see Turkey win. Why? I don't know. I enjoyed the Senegal v. Turkey game, as well as the Korea game. Spain got robbed, sez me. I don't know, I think Brasil, just based on talent alone. Oh, and Tommy Smyth OWNS, even though it's really hard to understand him at times, he seems like he knows what he's talking about.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted June 23, 2002 Brazil are gonna win so easily now. spain and england were the only teams left who were even in the same league as them, brazil are in. (although i have probably just delivered them the kiss of death).
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted June 23, 2002 I actually think that Turkey stands a great shot at upsetting Brazil with Ronaldo and Ronaldinho out. Turkey almost won their first game against Brazil. Either way, the winner of Germany/Korea wins the World Cup.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 23, 2002 Why are Italy and Spain being poor sports. They looked like bad calls by the officials. I just think it's possible that the pro-korean crowd might of been a factor.

Turkey almost won their first game against Brazil. Either way, the winner of Germany/Korea wins the World Cup. ronaldo isnt out yet, and should be able to shake the injury. brazil have improved out of sight since that first game, and should really outclass turkey, who have had a relatively easy draw through the knockout rounds. the winner of turkey/germany will finish regardless of who wins the other game. Korea's home ground is voided, as the final takes place in japan, and germany are too bloody boring to win. of course the crowd was a factor in those games, but the ref does provide a convenient scapegoat, and some of the calls in the italy match were *highly* questionable. (i didnt watch the spain match so i cannot comment).
Guest endgame722 Report post Posted June 23, 2002 I'm hoping that Germany defeats Korea to put this whole 'biased refereeing' contravercy to an end. I don't think Korea will have an answer for Germany's aerial attack and I'm predicting Germany will win 1-0 for the third consecutive game. The Brazil-Turkey game will be closer than many people think but Brazil will pull out a 2-1 victory. I find it very surprising that either Germany or Brazil have been in 11 of the past 12 World Cup finals, yet there has never been a Germany-Brazil final. I'm hoping we finally get to see the match-up of the two greatest soccer nations.
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted June 24, 2002 In every World Cup there are contreversial decisions Italy, Argentina and England have all benefitted when they hosted, even domestically teams like Liverpool and Man Utd always have decisions go there way. It's because the referee gets intimidated. The way to avoid it is to put the game beyond doubt, something Spain and Italy didn't do. The USA should have had a penalty and a German sent off for handball and considering the way they played they probably would have won it, but I didn't see them acting like spoilt kids at the end of the game. I'd like to see a Korea Turkey finalbecause it would be something new and because Brazil and Germany aren't that special this time around.
Guest Rob Edwards Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I'm all for the fairytale i think the koreans will beat the Germans. fair enough the atmosphere won't bother them but I don't think they can deal with the Koreans non stop energy

Guest Rob Edwards Report post Posted June 24, 2002 Unless they play Carsten Jancker! That guy could stink up any team. I honestly think Korea will beat Germany by 2 or 3 goals, With all respect to the USA germany havn't really played anyone that tough yet and I think they'll get found out for pace at the back
Guest The Son of Sting Report post Posted June 24, 2002 I think we should guess how many goals Germany will have ruled out. I say three.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted June 24, 2002 lol, im for 2. they can play it down all they want, but it seems the koreans have had 4 goalkeepers. their actual keeper, plus the 3 officials.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted June 24, 2002 you mean 4 officials, plus fifa behind them...so that net is pretty crowded Anywho I'll still pick Germany to win, because I don't want a lopsided final

I don't think Korea will have an answer for Germany's aerial attack and I'm predicting Germany will win 1-0 for the third consecutive game. Germany wins 1-0!! Korea's mediocre offense finally caught up to them. Especially near the end of the game they had a couple great chances and ended up missing the net. They had a good run but I don't think they would have had any change at all again Brazil i the final. Germany once again did just enough to win. Though they have appeared to be very ordinary throughout the tournament I think goaltending will be the determining factor in the final and Oliver Kahn will lead them to their 4th World Cup title. As for the other semi-final, I sticking with my earlier prediction of Brazil winning 2-1.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Report post Posted June 26, 2002 Deutschland!!!!! im so glad that korea is finally out, they made it 2 games further than they deserved too. what a game for michael ballack, he gets a yellow and will miss the final, yet scores the winning goal. poor guy, and klose once again shows his lack of talent, though he should be able to exploit the brazilian weaknesses against set plays and aerial stuff in the final. Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted June 26, 2002 I wanted Portugal to win because I believe they represent the next generation of Maradona's 1980s Argentina. Quick paced, technical, and physical players. But, sadly, they got eliminated. Well, now that Brazil has made it to the final, I still hope Germany gets the win. I think they will win (even without Michael Ballack). All they need to do is place Muroslav Klose and Oliver Bierhoff on attack, and move Oliver Neuville to Center Midfield, where Ballack plays......
