Guest Shadow Report post Posted April 2, 2005 I love how this only applies to edge if anyone challenges Batista at the end of mania. If Christian, Kane, Benjamin, Benoit or Jericho win, it wouldnt work?
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Mania is this weekend? I guess I have not been watching much wrestling as of late. It is funny that once again WWE is going against the Yankees-Red Sox. Lets see: 1.) Watching WWE continue to go down the slippery slope of suck or 2.) Watching the greatest rivalry in all of sports continue where it ended last year. I think the choice for me is obvious.
Guest Brian Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Does it matter? I think it's a bad idea to begin with, because you basically kill off a month of what should be an easy feud to set up (no matter who wins), kills a challenger, and if the challenger wins, you kill Batista. SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Its not like there's much left to salvage of Edge right now anyways. Edge is the best heel on Raw.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 I just think it would be a nice suprise. Maybe have Trips retain and a babyface beat him the same night.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 They've already got the story they need for Mania. Batista's going to overcome the odds to win the title, and the fans are going to want to bask in that for a while. Given that Edge can use his shot any time, they could just as easily use that gimmick to get Edge a quick title reign and a hot feud later in the year. Edge could kind of taunt Batista off and on for a couple months about how he can have him any time he wants, and then when Batista's got a tough match lined up against someone else for a PPV (Bad Blood maybe?), Edge can announce that he wants to take his shot immediately afterward. Besides, with the Money in the Bank match supposedly being one of the "most brutal" in Mania history, and Batista just wrestling a singles match, it would make more sense for Edge to wait for a later date. Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Not a bad idea, although it'd totally bury Edge. It wouldn't hurt Edge at all, it'd just go along with his gimmick, and the WWE fans would mock him and get in his face and make fun of him about coming up a bit too short once again. If anything, it might get him even more over, but it certainly wouldn't hurt him any.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 If Christian, Kane, Benjamin, Benoit or Jericho win, it wouldnt work? No, NONE of them should beat Batista right after he wins the strap. That's the last thing in the world that should be done. But with Edge, to me, it's a win-win if they must do that angle where someone comes out. It'll get the fans to the point where they get on him even more, mocking him, and it'll make Batista look like that much more of a dominating monster of a World Champion. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 It's not that we think that anyone can do it, it just seems most likely that Edge would.
Guest SammeC Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Predicted WrestleMania XXI Card (as the card stands on Sunday 3rd March {Australian}) 1. Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio What I Want: Hopeful that there is no break up between the tag champs (as was the case with Benoit/Angle in 2001) and the two have a good, clean match with Eddie picking up the victory… however… What Will Happen: A big break up between the WWE tag team champs leading to Eddie lying, cheating and stealing his way to a cheap victory, once again relegating Rey to cruiserweight/undercard status. 2. Money In The Bank Ladder Match (Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Christian, Shelton Benjamin, Kane and Edge) What I Want: The traditional spectacle of a ladder match with some huge bumps and some kicking and screaming from good ol’ JR (get it out of the system early) with a good mix of technical wrestling and Ladder match normality’s. Chris Jericho for the win. What Will Happen: Large traditional ladder match bumps taken by the smaller men with Kane standing tall at the end of the match to take the win and set up a match against the (‘new’) World Heavyweight Champion. 3. Big Show vs. Akebono What I Want: A good push and shove traditional Sumo style match with Akebono picking up the victory in a tough test of strength. What Will Happen: Big Show getting a big push and going over whilst earning the respect of Akebono. 4. Women’s Championship – Trish Stratus © vs. Christy Hemme What I Want: A short painless match with a Hemme victory. What Will Happen: A long match with a Hemme victory. 5. WWE Championship – J.B.L. © vs. John Cena What I Want: A hard fought match with a Cena victory leading to a large SmackDown! celebration in the locker room. What Will Happen: A hard fought match with a Cena victory leading to a large SmackDown! celebration in the locker room. 6. Kurt Angle vs. H.B.K. What I Want: A fantastic technical match that will win the two a definite MOTY nomination, if not the title. Must get at least 30 minutes to show off both men and their amazing ability. If this happens I will be happy with either winning, but I can see Kurt Angle picking up the victory. What Will Happen: A fantastic technical match that is not given enough time with Kurt Angle picking up the victory but the feud continuing leading to a Michaels shift to SmackDown! in the draft. 7. Legend vs. Legend Killer – Undertaker vs. Randy Orton What I Want: Torn on this match as Taker needs to keep his streak undefeated however Orton needs to receive a huge push going into the next year, and generation of WWE Superstars; however I cannot see this happening. Taker to pick up the victory after a harder match than most other Taker WM matches. What Will Happen: Orton receiving the push of his life and going over whilst ending the Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak. 8. World Heavyweight Championship Match – HHH © w. Ric Flair vs. Batista What I Want: Ric Flair to get banned from ringside early in the match only to resort to watching the animal comprehensively defeat HHH in a good match. What Will Happen: Traditional Earl Hebner bump, interference from Ric Flair, with Batista fighting back to get the hard fought victory.
