Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted March 28, 2005 you'd think it would make sense at Survivor series to have actual Survivor series matches between the two brands.. the problem is in this day and age no one does anything for no reason anymore.. First couple of royal rumbles was not for any title shot or winning a title belt..there was nothing to gain OTHER than putting on a good show and the pride in yourself. back then, the atmosphere was... anyone can win the Rumble.. Now a days Its like only a question of which Main eventer or up coming Main eventer will win. Why? because they put the World title main event match stip on it. Promoter 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2005 I think the wwe should really keep the interpromo matches at Mania, BUT they should build to the matches much better. Survivor Series should be the seeds of setting up feuds with a format similar to the 1990 version. Have RAW and Smackdown exclusive survivor matches and then one big final where the raw surivivors team up against the smackdown survivors. From there it plants seeds for interaction at the Royal Rumble and it sets up the interpromotional matches for Mania.

Every once in a while, someone on this board comes up with an idea that is far better than anything the WWE's currently doing. And by "once in a while", I mean about 4-5 times a week. Karc 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2005 And the Royal Rumble being cross-brand doesn't matter. Benoit last year is a good example. A really good Smackdown feud thrown away for a crappy Raw feud. The Batista thing showed it this year, especially during the contract signing. It wasn't about Smackdown vs. Raw. It was about Batista powerbombing Flair or Triple H. I mean the segment early on with Benoit, Jericho, Edge & Shelton teaming up against Luther, Eddy, Rey & Booker. It got lots of heat. Well, that means the interest is there, I guess. But my point is that WWE is either too stupid or too full of ego (most likely both) to do anything with it that would draw money, like the Invasion.

Yep. That's why they don't do more than the Rumble and a couple of Mania matches every year. Maybe a house show once a year or so. They sure aren't very good at planning things out.
