Ripping a DVD to my Hard drive

Okay, since i see 'dvd rips' everywhere, i'm pretty sure it is possible.

 

So, how do i go about it? For example, I wanted to make a 'best of' dvd and the material i want are on several other dvd's.

 

So how do I get it from a DVD to my pc?

The best thing that has worked for me is 'Xilisoft DVD Ripper'. A good friend of mine gave me the crack for it so now its even better.

 

It pays to have connections.

DVD Decrypter is free and great.

 

Depending on what you want to do with the DVD files, there's a whole variety of software to use. Although if you want to cut and combine elements of multiple discs into one presentation like you mentioned, you're going to need some heavy duty video editing tools.

 

What I would do is compress to Divx AVI then burn multiple AVIs to a data DVDR. The downside is the you can only watch the stuff on your computer, the good news is that you can fit a ton of film on one disc, even if you don't compress as much and go for higher picture quality.
