Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2005 Can't wait to see what happens next. How WULD the Galactica stand up against the Pegasus, which is the newer, better model of Battlestars?
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2005 The only thing I didn't like was the casting. Michelle Forbes makes for a good heel, but she's rather young to have such a high position in the military. I'd be willing to bet the Cylon attack was the first time she saw actual combat. Lloyd Bridges' Cain was so well loved and remembered by fans because he seemed like he knew what he was doing, even if he was unorthodox. This Cain seems more like a feared dictator than a revered leader. Seriously, if she was really "by the book", wouldn't she be subject to Rosalind's orders? She is the legitimate president of the colonies after all. Couldn't Rosalind promote Adama over Cain, in theory? Cain obviously couldn't give a shit about finding Earth, she just wants revenge. She's like Adama was before Rosalind convinced him that the survival of the human race outweighed winning the war. Great episode, so I'm glad it works on different levels than the episode that inspired it.
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2005 Tricia Helfer plays the humanoid Cylon "Number 6". She's not a shapeshifter, but often appears as a mental projection inside Baltar's mind (where he often gets to have sex with her). The mini-series was 2 parts and aired in December of 2003, and is available on DVD and for rent at most video stores. In the US, the show airs Friday nights on the Sci-Fi Channel (10pm eastern/9pm central). The UK version of the first season is available on DVD through Best Buy, and a new DVD with both the mini-series and all 13 first season episodes will be released September 20. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does anyone know what the difference is between the UK version and the new version that was released? Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2005 The guy up at Best Buy said there was really no difference, except for the fact that the US version comes with the Mini-series, and I think the formatting.

SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 I just got finished listening to the audio commentary on "You Can't Go Home Again". The commentaries were apparently recorded about the time they were making of episode 2.8 (the one with Lucy Lawless). Moore and David Eick are discussing how great they think Cmdr. Adama and Starbuck interact, and there's a reference to "if he makes her the C.O. of you-know-what..." It sounds like it could be a joke, since both men are obviously drunk, but there's no way that isn't a big clue as to how this story might turn out. They also mention an upcoming episode where it shows what Roslin was doing the day before the attack on Caprica . Since, as I mentioned before, they're drunk for most of them, the commentaries do kick ass. The one's I listened to were recorded in Ron Moore's living room, with lots of phones ringing, cussing, and cool insider stuff. BUY THIS DVD!
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 I was travelling so I just saw the last two episodes of this block, Flight of the Phoenix and Pegasus last night. Phoenix was a nice episode, great execution of an old plot. I liked that it was really about the crew and hope rather than the virus plot. But Pegasus, HO-LEE SHIT! HO-LEE SHIT! A new battlestar about 5 times more advanced? Fuck yeah Ro laren as hardass Cain? Oh Fuck Yeah! Pegasus crew gang-raping Cylon prisoners? W T F!!! Helo and Tyrol joining forces and killing the would be rapist? OH HELL YEAH! And adama... Adama adama adama... this guy is one of the all time great "quiet badasses" in television history. When he finally snaps at the end, and orders the vipers and marines out to the Pegasus, HO-LEE SHIT! Look out, he's got the look of death!!!!! Cain obviously missed the little notes in the BSG logs that said "Don't frak with Adama or you become his bitch". Adama/Cain phone-showdown was an awesome scene, especially the way it circled around and cut back and forth! I can't believe no more new episodes till January (?). WTF. fuck that. This show is awesome. Still cant decide which is better, this or Lost, but they both had dynamite hours this week. but its definetly one of the top shows on TV. Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 Just bought Season 1 today, and I got to say I'm impressed with the ammount of commentaries included. Only like 4 episodes don't include them. that's unheard of.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 are these new commentaries or the online podcasts from the website?
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 are these new commentaries or the online podcasts from the website? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Only the last five are podcasts. The mini-series commentary is the same as the one previously released on DVD. The other 4 were recorded while they were prepping the Lucy Lawless episode during season 2. SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2006 I don't think I'll be catching up on the first half episodes in time... damn! Record it. After you finally see the cliffhanger they ended season 2.0 on, you'll definitely need to see the conclusion.

SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2006 I've been hearing that the extended cut of "Pegasus" (the one Moore talked about in the podcast) will be on the BGS 2.5 set coming out later this year.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2006 Ron Moore's podcast for tonight's show is up. Resurrection Ship Part 1 http://scifi.com/battlestar/downloads/podcast/
Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2006 I like how upfront Adama was- "I want you to pull out your weapon, and shoot her in the head." Brilliant.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2006 damn, is this show fuckin hardcore or what? Roslin was also pretty badass-upfront too. "We have to kill her." I let out an audible WHAT THE FUCK whne she said that. I love when Adama gets the badass 'dont fuck with me' look. Cain signed her death warrant at th end of pegasus part 1, its just been delayed. you fuck with adama, you pay, plain and simple. What a badass. Really psyched for next week. Hopefully there's plenty of Starbuck/Apollo mission goodness, those two are gold together.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2006 I just caught a few episodes of this show in the mini-marathon yesterday, and watched the new episode tonight. Great stuff. Here's another show I need to catch up on, I guess.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2006 Roslin realizing before Adama did that Cain was going to try to kill Adama seemed pretty out of character. The only rationale I can think of would be that some of the rumors about the crimes committed by Cain aboard Pegasus got to Rosalin, and Adama was still trying to convince himself that Cain was behaving ethically even though he disagreed with her decisions. Rosalin also seemed pretty quick with the "Hey, let's kill her" decision, but she's probably had time to think over worse-case scenarios since Cain was ignoring her and the civilian fleet for most of the last episode. The confrontation between the Vipers at the beginning was cool, even though no shots were fired. It was good to be reminded that these aren't Star Wars ships, and manuever according to the rules of a 3-dimensional, no-gravity environment (instead of zipping around like jetfighters). Since the Pegasus using nothing but the newer fighters, I'm wondering how they lasted this long without a Cylon computer virus. It was shown during and since the mini-series that the only reason Galactica survived was because she had older Vipers and no computer networks aboard. Actually, they survived because the oler fighters (And Galactica) did not have a networked computer system. It may be that Cain figured that out, and downgraded her systems. Guest JMA Report post Posted January 8, 2006 I never knew that Mark Verheiden worked on Galactica. I know him from his work on Superman (the comic) and Smallville--I'm glad that he's working on such a cool show. He's good at crafting sci-fi stories. I guess I'll be picking up the DVDs of the previous seasons soon.

Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2006 Since the Pegasus using nothing but the newer fighters, I'm wondering how they lasted this long without a Cylon computer virus. It was shown during and since the mini-series that the only reason Galactica survived was because she had older Vipers and no computer networks aboard. Arogance. The Humans thought they were smarter than the Cylons, and Baltar's new system (which almost the entire fleet was running, minus the older fighters, I think) was supposed to keep the Cylons from breaching the network. I beleive there was an episode in early season 2 that demonstrated what would happen if the Galactica networked it's computers. Actually, they survived because the oler fighters (And Galactica) did not have a networked computer system. It may be that Cain figured that out, and downgraded her systems. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2006 Definetly didn't see the ending with Cain coming (at least in terms of who pulled the trigger). Somehow though it feels a little too pat. I thought the Apollo in space stuff was weak and stretched, especially with the nature of his rescue. It was still a good episode though. Great show.
